My fathers 2003 accord 4cyl will allow him to move the shifter but won't move and grinds when they try to put it in park. Never experienced the bad transmission are these the symptoms.

If I recall the 4cyl Accord auto's aren't as bad as the V6's. What maintenance has been done on the car, and yes, what mileage?

150,000 and he always has it serviced.

Has the ATF ever been changed with Honda ATF only?

sounds like a Bad Transmission. mine did the EXACT same thing before it went out

was going about 80 mph on my way to a Job interview and suddenly wouldn't switch gears, barely made it off the CA Freeway safely and limped to a Auto Parts Shop

i did the ATF Fluid flush with almost every oil change but it eventually gave out. Luckily my friend has Body Shop but when the first one was installed, it wasnt up to par so they put in another one for me

i have a V6 but being serviced regularly can mean totally different things car to car. Mine came with a clean CarFax and Basic Maintenance but i doubt most would keep up w/doing 15,000 mile ATF Fluid change let along the 3 x 3 Fluid change


you MAYBE can have it rebuilt but it is better to just get a better Transmission with lower Miles in there
