What else were you expecting?

It's unfortunate that it died, because I think it's life is shorter than what I've experienced, but I don't think it's terribly unexpected either.

any recommendations?
Personally, I went with AutoZone's Duralast Gold since it was the least expensive compared to what was available at Pepboys, O'Reilly, and Sears.

It's made by Johnson Controls who also make DieHard (Sears), Interstate, Kirkland (Costco), Motorcraft (Ford) and EverStart (Walmart).

^^...and Advanced Auto Parts - AutoCraft, and also Honda/Acura OEM

So just pick the cheapest and go with it. 3-5 years is what you can expect from a battery. anything more than that and you're on borrowed time. Especially if the car is parked outside in the sun often.

i thought the genuine honda battery was good for 100 months limited warranty. they replaced mine for free at the dealer but i had also bought the battery from the dealer. it may be different if that is the original battery but i would still try the warranty, maybe they will exchange or pro rate the cost of new.

Nope they don't. My certified used car's battery died on me this summer. The car is 4 years old and I've only had it for 1 year. Pi$$ed me off too! Oh and those tires, they ARE NOT new either lol. Certified used cars have certified used tires and used batteries. It seems like they make sure that the battery can hold charge for at least 1-2 years and that the tires have good thread 75% or more rubber.

Sorry you are mad.
Batteries typically last 3-5 years, depending on driving conditions and the power you use when the car isn't running.
My car turns 6 shortly, and I had a bad battery from the factory that I replaced a month into owning my car new. The current battery still works just fine, but I'm on the lucky/long side.
The good news is that a replacement is cheap and should last for 3-5 more years.
Good luck.

Interesting. Out here on the left coast, dealer special OEM 100 month 3 year free replacement Type 35 installed runs $89.95.

My original battery in my 04 accord lasted 5 years and over 100k miles. It only died because I left the lights on with the key in the ignition one day (I was in the car the whole time). I think the trick is to keep the water level maintained. Just because its sealed doesn't mean water won't slowly evaporate. They say you must use distilled or mineral-free water to prevent corrosion, but I just use bottled water (never tap water which is full of minerals).

Sounds like you are pretty clueless if you thought the battery would go beyond the 3 year factory warranty. How mad do you get when you have to change oil and do other maintenance with the vehicle. When you buy a new Honda battery, it will have a 100 month warranty. Other batteries have a shorter warranty. Figure out what you want and how much you want to spend, and get a new battery and stop complaining. Your tires will need to be replaced soon too, those get old too.

'stones words may at first seem somewhat strong (but he makes a good point: the Honda 100-month replacement type 35 at under $90 is worthy of consideration from this sailor's viewpoint).
