Hey guys,

I jumped on the bandwagon for purchasing those Meganracing Street Racing coilovers. Had them installed over at Honda. Less than a year later, they are squeaking all over the place. I get a letter from Honda saying it's a leak in the coilovers, and then I take it to two other shops that say that they are leaking. I send very clear pics to Meganracing and they refuse any leaking. Are you kidding me? you can obviously see the leak and they are just refusing to refund me. Just saying... be very careful because the customer service is horrible. I would never purchase from Meganracing again. Pay a little more for the reassurance with another brand.

after almost a YEAR and you want them to replace them?

That isn't their fault.
They have a "year warranty," and do you replace your coilovers every 10 months?

Maybe next time you will buy from someone who offers some kind of warranty.
this is from megan racings web site.

Limited Warranty:
All Items sold are on an as is basis. Warranties that apply may be limited manufacturer warranties. Megan Racing disclaims all warranties expressed or implied. We also do not authorize any one to assume liability in connection with these items. The buyer shall not be entitled to recover any damages arising from use of merchandise. All merchandise is aftermarket and intended for OFF-ROAD use only. Buyer assumes responsibility for violations of local laws and rules that may result from use of merchandise. I have no need to buy Coilovers, therefore would not need to replace them.

If I did buy them, I would do some research and get a brand based on quality and warranty, not price.

I had a friend warn me about Megans, he told me a story about a guy that autocrossed with them and the whole driver side suspension shot through the body. There are new H&R coilovers, but they are bit pricey. I guess that's why I don't want to invest in coilovers overall.

Most those guys who recommend Megan havn't done any research into coilovers and only care about looks, to put it bluntly. That's all Megan will give you. You get a drop and thats it. Like you said its a bandwagon and you learnt from your mistake... there are a lot of people who swear by them, yet none of them happen to be racing teams/engineers/mechanics.

That's quite clever of Megan Racing. By saying they're meant for OFF-ROAD use, it probably pretty much absolves them of any accountability for the majority of the people who buy anything from them.

so let's see so far:

1. everyone that buys megans is a posuer (I admit I am) , stupid and is just in it for the looks and to impress the girls....
2. so far on this board we have one shock blow, megan says no, even though we have no idea what kind of use it got.....never mind the hundreds running them here - we all got taken.
3. so we all should not buy megans becasue of the single post

ok, got it...I'll run tell the world....

Ouch. Are there no business watchdogs where you live?

OP, ****s that you're going through this. You did the right thing to post though. Even though there could be hundreds of other Megan coilover owners out there without a problem, it's good for those owners and future buyers be aware of the warranty they will be facing.

I'm trying to understand why Megan should refund you. If there's something wrong with the coilover, then they should repair it or replace it if it's still under warranty.

If you want them to refund you for the coilovers and they're refusing to do so, then that's understandable. However, if they're refusing to repair/replace it under warranty or do anything about it, then that's different.

So what's the real story here? Need clarification.

Just to be objective, the OP never stated such.

Quote from Megan Racing's site http://meganracing.com/terms/index.asp :

"Starting from 2010, all Megan Racing coilover damper kits and suspension components come with 1 year worry free manufacture warranty which include defects and collisions. Exclusions - modification and abuse. All warranty claims must be approved by our warranty department."

If OP's problem occurred during the 1 year period, it would seem OP has a valid issue. Maybe not a refund.

agreed...it's the pilers on I was referring to....

this is why i ended up selecting the hfp suspension - less drop and customization but i could have a lot more faith in the overall quality and impact to the vehicle. still, i'd assume that this failure is relatively isolated based on the megan gospel reflected in signatures. too bad for the op - i hope that if you clarify that you expect replacement and not refund that they will help you out.

i had a negative experience with megan's customer service on a returned item but ultimately i did receive a partial refund. it was a little strange though - the customer support rep was my best friend until my return was received (still factory sealed) at which time the package suddenly vanished and somehow i was responsible. weird but their loss - i had planned to do further business down the road.
