Wow, that is a bit pricey. I just replaced mine for $15 and it took less than five minutes lol.

Stay away from Huntington Honda for ANY service needs! I have had such bad experiences with them and their incompetance as techs and service writers that I almost wanted to sell my car a few times... STILL trying to figure some things out that THEY couldn't!

Just stay away from Huntington Honda!

I'd previously heard about dealers charging multiple pesos for the cabin air filter change................................................

But here it is with graphics in living color...............

Some generations previous to Accord Gen7 may be more complex (but still $100; I always thought this was highway robbery)...............

Sad (but great post!)

ez.......

Some model Hondas require multiple interior panels to be removed to gain access to the filter. That explains the charge. However, it is BS that they impose the same charge for all models. My dealer asks if you know how to do it yourself, then they don't do it at all. I just ordered both the engine and cabin filters for my Accord and Element and saved over $20 for all 5 filters compared to the discounted price through the Honda eStore (dealer markup would be even higher).

WOW and people here in DA get offended why I call them STEALerships

yeah, I deal with Autofair honda up here, total screw job. 17.95 oil change turned into a 230 dollar oil pain/seal/drain plug situation for my friend (I change my own for the mobil 1). then my friend had problems with CRV work. my plan is to do everything myself, and if it really hits the fan I will go to the local acura dealership (which sold me my accord for 2000 less then the honda dealership)

You can replace it with a mere cost of usd 20 here (including labor) in indonesia.
USD 100? Hmm, a little bit pricey.

For the previous gen Honda Pilots, the first time you change the filter it can take up to an hour to do it, as you have to cut away part of the dash support (mostly was there for assembly purposes at the factory). Even with that you have to also unbolt part of the support brackets to get to it out. A real PITA as compared to the Accord. So "maybe" that cost is OK for a Pilot - but not for an Accord...

For the 6th gen Accord (1998 to 2002), the cabin air filter was behind glove box that required removing 2 panels and several screws hidden on either side of the glove box, including 2 inside the passenger's side fuse box. The job was super easy but Honda made it unnecessarily time consuming to remove the filter.
At the dealership, the 6 gen Accord would take 30 minutes, from the time the tech driving car in to the service adviser handing back the key.
Taking into account dealership's overhead, $100 is OK for 6th gen accord.

On newer gen Honda, it would take no more 10 minutes total. No tool required.
But dealership probably charges on half hour increment so it still $100 :-}

So what's the best Cabin Air Filter and Engine Air Filter

Guys,

I also have a 2006 Honda Accord EX V6 Coupe :)

I finally was fed up with my dealerships skyrocketing prices, so i started to do a lot of minor work myself on the car.

I recently was told about this company K&N (www.knfilters.com) they make an Engine Air Filter $43.99 online price.

Does anyone have any experience with this brand?

Also, any recommendations on what's the best Price/Quality Cabin filter I should go with?

Thank you for your suggestions!!!

^ I used Fram Fresh Breeze. Its pretty good, cost almost the same with OEM filter($20) but it really blocks outside smell better than OEM based on my experience. Part Number CF10134 for 06-07 Accord and there's rebate going on right now. Get $3 back when you buy one. I suggest try to to get on that free shipping deal from Amazon.

According to Honda Owner's Link:
Replace air cleaner element (Engine Air Filter)
If you drive in dusty conditions, replace every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).

Replace dust and pollen filter (Cabin Air Filter)
If you drive primarily in urban areas that have high concentrations of soot in the air from industry and from diesel-powered vehicles, replace every 15,000 miles (24,000 km).

So, on average about once a year.
