http://www.carid.com/2013-honda-accord-caliper-covers/

my only problem is that i am worried about heat/safety. I am extremely worried that the cover would increase heat even though the site claims they reduce heat. I dont see how the covers could possible do that; they should increase heat. And false advertising would just make me even more skeptical. Imagine it melting on the caliper.

Anyone try these?

If the cover is made of the right material and makes enough contact then it becomes another piece to which heat can dissipate.

If you drive your car hard constantly, always diving into corners hard and repeatedly brake hard, then you should be concerned about it melting. Otherwise with normal daily driving, I don't see it being an issue.

But if you do drive in this manner, then you will also have other brake issues to contend with such as brake fade from boiling fluid, glazed rotors, melting pads, etc.

glen e, has a similar cover on his brakes. He's been using it for years on his other Accords without fail (other than the idea being a fail in itself. :))

I would not worry too much about it, honestly unless you're constantly pounding on the brakes.

I personally have been eyeing a red set w/ black Honda lettering, but they want $270 for them which is just silly. It couldn't cost them more than $30-40 to make the set and ship it.

As far as the idea being a "fail" as our bastion of good taste on2 says, I see this as pretty far removed from what glen has on his car. Why? First, they are manufactured in various sizes and cover the entire caliper of the car they are made for meaning they actually do help cut down on brake dust on the wheels slightly. Second, they aren't plastic. Third, they aren't pretending to be Brembos. And lastly, they don't attach with adhesive/silicone. Which is not to say that the plastic "Brembo" covers don't look good on glens car, because they do. I just couldn't do it. Lol

I never did it for the Brembo name, they just fit well and were all of $20. All over ebay and the web. In fact,if the Brembo was not raised on the caliper it would be sanded off...thought about respraying them but left them alone, they are cleared so they look good. And they do look great. But I have finally found the same caliper made without any name at all, and have ordered them. Black Honda decals on order too. Should switch next week.

Dang, just saw these. Would look awesome on those of us going with the carbon theme.

Looking forward to pics from the OP and Glen. :)

I do have to say from a pure cost perspective, Glen's option seems more in line with what one would expect to pay for such an item.

To the OP, are you sure they covers fit the 2013 Accord? I'm skeptical because they list it as "2012-2013 Accord". I've seen quite a few items for the 8th gen incorrectly being sold under the "2013 Accord" moniker.

I'm going for the carbon fiber theme :) but that caliper cover looks way too dark

I'd like to get a set of black covers for mine when I get some wheels, but there's no way I'd pay $200 for them. That's just ludicrous.

Something about caliper covers just doesn't sit right with me. The carbon ones might be OK since they don't look like they are trying to be something they aren't, but the covers that just appear to be a bigger caliper aren't my thing.

Once again, we all see things differently...

For me, I AM NOT TRYING TO BE BREMBO OR GIVE PEOPLE AN IDEA THAT I HAVE BIG BRAKES. The simple fact is the brakes look unfinished and made of pot metal , no matter how you paint them if you look close. Black does a good job of hiding them but I like a splash of red on my car and then they look unfinished.

Calipers ordered.

Coupon code at order knocked off 5 percent: SAVE5

Color: Porsche 911 Racing Yellow

Paint Code: 1S1/P3

Engraving: HONDA (in all black)

Can't wait because these will also make the calipers look bigger (or taller).

If they don't fit i'll be fine. They don't refund custom orders; however if I filed a claim with my bank for the purchase they will refund the charge because they did not sell me the correct item.

I am taking a big risk with this purchase because, if I am not mistaken, the porsche 911 racing yellow is a pretty bright yellow. So the caliper may be way too bright. But for whatever reason I felt like "living on the edge" and going for it. I had read that the dodge viper yellow works very well for the yellow caliper look but I opted for the porsche color anyway. Lets see how the Porsche Paint looks :notworthy
