Let me start by apologizing for the detailed post. I wanted to detail it to narrow down the possibilities and also help anyone else who has a similar issue in the future.
BEFORE: While at work today, My black colored car window and sun roof had half an inch of an opening to stop from overheating in this southern summers.
It rained heavily this afternoon and when I got to my car after work this evening I noticed there were drops on water on the passenger side seats (front and back) and a tiny (couple scoops worth) of water on the weathertech mat on the passenger side.
Not thinking too much about it I wiped it dry. But then while starting my car I noticed that there was also a small pool of water near the driver side floor towards where my left leg would rest (drained it dry) and every time I hit the breaks when driving some water would trickle from the sun roof and fall over in the driver seat and some would flow down the driver side pillar/beam. The roof of the car was damp as well.
I assumed it would dry off overnight given the heat.
DURING: I get home par the car in the parking deck and carry on working on my computer for an hour or so when i hear a car alarm go off in the parking deck. it did not go off so I walked out to see if anyone had car trouble, turns out it was my car with the alarm going off all the time. I turned it off with the FOB and on starting the car found that the dash had a symbol for smart entry system malfunction. (I wont go into even more details, but it involves moving he car and 911 helping ensure there was no break in)
I moved my car to a different parking spot thinking its a one off, head back home and as soon as i sit to google what happened, I hear the car go off again.
I rushed back to ensure I turn the alarm off.
The officer stuck around while I used my wrench set to disconnect the battery. So thats where things are right now
Other random points: The battery is new (Feb 2018)
I was hoping someone with a similar experience might able to help me understand what could be off and whats the best way to fix it.
Should I expect this to stop once the car dries or is there more to be be done / looked at?
Are there things I can do to pinpoint the cause?
Thanks in advance and apologies on the hastily drafted lengthy post. Headed back to check on the condition of the car.
