Today, out of the blue, my car wouldn't start after stopping for about 20min. When I tried, it clicked and everything flashed off and on. I tested the battery and it read only 10.3 amps. After a jump, I drove 2 miles to our destination. When we tried to leave a few hours later, it was dead again. Another jump, and then a 30min drive home.

When I pulled into the driveway, and turned off the car, the engine cut off but the dash and interior indicators started going crazy. Everything pushed and flashed, and nothing I did worked to turn it off. I tried cycling through the power, getting out, locking the doors, and no matter what I did the dash lights kept going crazy. The only thing that worked was disconnecting the battery.

Does anyone have any clue what it could be?

Dead battery / alternator / wiring problem. The first one is easy to fix, the second one needs a mechanic to confirm, the third one well... that's going to be a tricky one but it will require a tech.

Bad battery, nothing more nothing less. Replace it and everything will be fine. Be sure to check that you battery connections are clean and tight.

Update: Took my battery (Optima yellow top, AGM) to Advance Auto because it's still under warranty. It tested at just over 8v, and only 2 CCAs (yes, just 2). They charged it for 5 hours, and it was up to 9.5v, but still only 2 CCAs. They say to give it 24 hours, and if it is still low they will replace at no cost under warranty.

I've heard Optima batteries aren't the same. The yellow top I had lasted me 8 years without any issue, even with the long, and cold north east winters.

I assume you have the 51r Optima yellow top, I had mine replaced under warranty twice in my Acura TSX. Each time it failed the same way. I gave up on Optima batteries, and went back to flooded lead acid and never had an issue.

I have tried the Bosch (Exide) AGM in my Accord and so far it has been great, bit it is only 18months old.

When they replace your Optima make sure they give you a recent date code, within the last 2 months. They do not have a lot of them and they tend to be old.

SOLVED: The battery went bad. They charged it for over 24hrs, and it was still not at 10v, and only up to 200 CCAs. It was 2yr5mo years old, so Advance Auto replaced it free under warranty.

Wow, back in the day I've had a Yellow Top last 10 years before it went bad. 2.5 years is crazy.

It's the symptom of the honda tiny, short life, dead battery, I've been through that, and optima is not any better. Optima batteries do not have the same quality as they used to be. I had both yellow and red, both died after 3 years mark. Batterries almost twice as heavy and i can immediately feel the dragging of the weights in the vehicle, and the hype of no leak doesn't really apply for 80% of normal drivers. There is no peace of mind with optima batteries. Their warranty is the worse for the price you pay for them. For 9th gen, just get the 35 or 24f battery from where you think they would honestly honor the warranty and not making you running around or trying to blame on you. Look at their advertising, the battery can be run over, good luck with doing that. Try it and void warranty. "Advanced Auto" can't even tell if the battery was bad and you had to wait for 24hrs, ridiculous...that must be "Clueless Auto". Who in the right mind would just drain the battery and bring it in for warranty exchange without recharging it, except the battery refusing to hold charge itself. The clear Panasonic battery I had was the best one. The clear case to see the level of electrolyte, the easy refill screw caps, I think the maintainable battery is better than the agm batteries myself; but most like maintenance free.

AAP FTW !!

My guys at AAP honored the warrantee with 1 month left. They measured it, tested it, said Yup! bad battery. New one for 0.00.

AAP folks, in my area, ARE car guys and know what they are doing. YMMV

Completely agree - they are not afraid to say it and give you a new item, what ever that may be. Been there done that with a few things from them. Not to mention they know me well enough, I get the 'corporate' discount on everything!

Only bad part about it warranty is now I only have a 7 month warranty on the new battery, since it goes off the original date.

Doesn't matter really IMO. I got another three years of battery life for the original price I paid three years ago. Of course unless this battery really poops out early !! Perish the thought.

Another year or two, three I don't shell out 100.00+ bucks is OK for me!
