I've been using "expensive" ($10+ per) wipers that require removing the plastic piece on the arm due to wiper thickness. A few days ago, I changed to no name wipers marked "conventional wiper" which I got from Menards ages ago for $2~3 each, and free after rebate. I put the plastic piece back.

In the last 2 days, we got quite a rain storm in Chicago. The wiper performed beautifully, my windshield hasn't been this clear for years, unlike those "premium" wipers that always leave a little behind. I'll stick with cheap from now on.

As with any wiper, time will wear them out..even the cheepies are good when you 1st put them on.
I get the cheap wiper route. But, there is something to be said about higher-quality blades too that typically last longer.

I use Bosch from a Valvoline place. They were $25 with tax. We don't get a lot of rain in TX, but when we do it's heavy. These are fine. Availability's going to be spotty. I've had cheapies and hated them, streaks, bad rubber.

Once you use silicone wipers ($25 each, yikes!) there ain’t no going back. Mine are 5 years old and going strong

I tried the PIAA once on my car, after success on my Odyssey in japan, and found them to be junk. Streaky mess. This is after following the instructions to the letter.

Got my money back for them.

Personally, I think it is hard to improve on Honda wiper arms and their rubber refills. On both Hondas I bought used, I changed the wipers back to OEM and the result was always much better. I've tried other brands in the auto parts stores, but even the Bosch didn't hold up like the money put into them (meaning buying the arms with blade already in place). Just my experience. Your mileage may vary.

How often are you changing yours? How much streaking do you accept before changing them?

Probably on average every couple of years. That's a best guess. Even then, I replace only the streaking one. That's the nice thing about refills. Also, my car is outside 24/7, so the elements take a toll. A garaged vehicle would get much more time from their refills.

Any idea how many miles?

Due to statements like this I bought sets for two cars. One of the silblade tore in less than 6 months. The guy sent me a replacement but there's no guarantee that it will last forever. I have both Silblades on my Accord and the drivers side never wipes cleanly. Ticks me off.

I tried Silblades once, and wasnt impressed then either.

Between 20K and 25K per year.
So, in theory, I would be replacing mine 8-10 times a year going off your mileage. Lol

Hopefully the OP kept the originals, should they ever decide to go back to Honda blades. They'll need the stainless steel inserts in the rubber strips.

And OP, did you know you can just replace the rubber in the OEM Honda design? Re-use those metal inserts, replace just the rubber for about $10 each. And - bonus - you can keep that plastic piece (stabilizer bracket) in place.

True. The 1 year old Michelin Premium Hybrid blades are still perfect. I replaced them only because of the fit: The blade doesn't seem to follow the contour of the windshield perfectly, especially on the driver side, never totally clean even when brand new. Too stiff?

Everyone has an opinion on wiper blades so there is good info here. I've never had a reason to stray from the Honda refills. On a garaged car, they last a long time while outside in the sun maybe 6 months or so. To be fair I usually have one car with winters so if we take a trip it makes it easy.

I apply Aquapel once a year to the windshield, and used to replace the blades yearly with the Coscto Michelin blades when they go on sale for $7. I don't really need to use the wipers when at highway speeds with the Aquapel. A couple years ago I decided to try the silicone blades on my Pilot, and like them, even though they are more expensive.
