I've been wanting to put a dashcam in my '18 EX-L and wanted to check if anyone can confirm what I was told by the dealership when I bought the car.

They had mentioned that the camera which controls lane keep assist, cruise control, etc is placed directly in front of the rear-view mirror of the car. I wasn't sure if this would be affected by placing a dashcam in this area. Does anyone know where is/isn't a good area to place a dashcam when I eventually get one?

As a follow up, has anyone actually installed a dashcam in an EX-L from this generation yet and be able to recommend one? Looking to get a 2 channel dashcam and have limited experience with installing one.

Thanks in advance!

Since nobody else has chimed in I’ll give my 2 cents

I used position 45 on the fuse to hard wire my dash cam. It’s only hot with ignition.
I’m running a single camera. I may do a two channel setup later.
I actually have a two channel setup in another car. Rexing V1P. But the rear camera is poor quality. Better than nothing, though.

I placed mine on the dots to the left of the Honda sensing unit.
It does not affect the Honda sensing features.

The fuse is low profile in case anyone is wondering. And on position 45 the right side of the fuse is hot.

I used this kit. Which is also featured on the video below.

MiniUSB Hardwire Kit with Mini/LP...

I just hooked up my dash cam yesterday I placed the always on location was #27 ...shouldn't be any thing else there. Also there is a good grounding point behind the trim piece with the fuse locations marked

wouldnt this kill your battery?
Depends how you power it.
If you connect it to a fuse with constant power it will drain your battery unless you have some type of cutoff mechanism.
The kit I posted above actually cuts off power to the fuse if it detects below a certain voltage. So that you can at least start your car.
I haven’t tested that feature since I’m connected to a fuse which is not constant.

Yeah I have one of those two wire kits for now but I plan to use a three wire kit in the near future for my Viofo A129 duel channel
Here are a few pics..

I’m not getting any power on my meter from 27. I do get power on empty slot 18 and 19.

I just placed my viofo a119 v3 on the plastic housing of the Honda Sensing camera. Works perfectly and is out of the way so it's not distracting me at night. Looks more discrete since it's not places directly on the windshield too.
