Deep Gloss Auto Salon
2001 Ford Focus

This vehicle belongs to a young lady that is in her 1st year of college. As you would expect, the paintwork on this vehicle was in horrid shape.

I decided to use M105/M205 and the Kevin Brown PC (Flex) method on one half of the car and my rotary on the other half using SIP/106ff.

Obviously this was not a detail in which perfection was on the docket but, I found it “post worthy” because it is a vehicle that the “Average Joe” can afford and it is also in pretty typical hammered shape, just like 90% of every vehicle I see on the road.

Apologies for the lack of sun shots but it was quite late when I finished.

Ain't no way that's the same car.

I don't believe you! :D

Her jaw probably hit the ground!

Amazing work once again.

Did she want to marry you after she saw the finished product? :D

I was hoping you'd be back and posting up some detail pics. Good to see some average joe cars. Love the before/after results. Is it me or is the Ford black some pretty thick paint. The depth is amazing.

Nice, good to see you posting detailing jobs again. I think the carpets are actually what amazed me about this one the most...you even brought those horrible looking universal mats back to brand new. I think you have inspired me to go out and buy a PC...just one question- for very minor swirls (no real scratches) what polish would you suggest?

No stunt doubles were involved in this production.. I promise...

Thanks, yeah she was pretty happy with the results!

I miss these posts, it reminds me of how shitty my exterior is
Thanks and I'm sorry all wrapped up in one!

Amazing work once again.
Thanks:thmsup:

:jawdrop: wow that is just amazing.
Gracias:D

That is wild, honestly looks like a different car.
Danke:)

Very nice! It pains me to look at my paint when I see your work!
Arigato:biggrin:

great job... and glad to see more of your work... i'm amazed at every car you do... how long did it take you to do this one?
Thanks.. Ummm, about 11 hours

Ha ha.. me no think so

Thanks, I agree, avg joe cars are a little more realistic of what is in most of our garages.

I didn't take paint depth readings but one thing that was interesting was that half the car had metal flake in it and the other did not... and it had never been repainted... berry interesting

Thanks Man, If you can spare the extra coin I would get a flex.. it is still a random orbit machine like a PC but is forced random orbit what does this mean to you? More power, better correction. As far as a good polish, Menzerna Super Intensive Polish is a great polish.. I have also heard GREAT things about Meguiars 205..

Man you wore me out just thinking about all that work...:thmsup:

Another job to be proud of there MCH.:thumbsup:

It never amazes me to see how poorly people take care of their cars.:dunno:

I1:notworthy

Ugh....I don't even want to look at the finish on my truck.....

Props to you. Hope all is well out there in motor city. It must be tough up there.

Wow...amazing work.

How much do you charge for something like that? (complete interior and exterior on a black car)
Thanks... I spent about 11 hours on this, my rate is $45 an hour (went up from $40 last year).

Glad to see the weather has lightened up enough for you to start detailing. You and the Makita are ONE! Incredible job my friend, just incredible. How was the clear on that Ford? Hard as GM, soft as Honda? Was this at your new casa?
Gracias Senor - If you think you are glad just imagine how I feel! Ahh yes, funny thing it snowed the next day!

The clear was medium... Funny thing is the drivers side was straight black paint and the passenger side had some metal flake in it. Come to fine out the vehicle NEVER has been repainted and this must be something that occured at the original paint process..

Wow, I'm thoroughly impressed once again MotorCity.
Thanks!

Thanks man.... work?? this was nothin, just wait until some of the other cars I have lined up and what they want!

To be honest this is what I see everyday on the road, It is just accentuated when I throw the paint under my lights

Ugh....I don't even want to look at the finish on my truck.....

Ha ha, kind of like "don't ask don't tell" if you don't look at it, it doesn't look bad... I feel for you man but with your schedule that is the last of your worries...

Thanks Steven, things are tough up here but sitting around crying about it doesn't change anything, just gotta pick yourself up and kick some but!!

Very impressive. I just picked up some #205 to replace my #80, I`ve been hearing some good things about it.

Would you like to move in with me? ;)
