BULBS: philips 85122+ D2S

here are some output pics.

Image

im pretty happy with the cutoff. just enough color but without sacrificing sharpness. i think there might be some rotational adjustment necessary but i am just gonna leave it alone.

Image

a little overexposed. the lamp that is on top of the garage looks super bright. my setup isnt actually this bright.

Image

super sharp cutoff along the fence. man i am REALLY liking these projectors. i think they are aimed a little high so i do have to adjust them down a little bit.

this is one of the things that is really bothering me. i went about 1-2 shades too dark on the smoked side reflectors. i wish there was just a hint more of the orange.

what was the part cost to do the job? i think i spent about 250 for all the parts.

what else is needed to do the retrofit besides the projector lamp and hid bulb, such as shrouds? you'll need to get a ballast to power the HID bulbs. you'll also need shrouds as you mentioned. you'll probably want a spare set of headlights (which im selling :naughty:). and also miscellaneous tools.

where to get them ? i made my own shroud. but you can go on theretrofitsource.com to buy shrouds.

The projectors look good. But I think they're aimed too high. That would blind oncoming traffic.
yah... in the pictures they were aimed a few inches too high. i adjusted them against a wall and now they are a lot better.

i've heard ppl spending close to $1k or so...i thought this very expensive mod.
but for what you have spent, seems to be very fair...
can you share where you sourced your parts, made your own shrouds?
also how much are you selling your lights, i wanna start gathering the parts, if
i can get the parts around your ball-park as well! thanks!@

Nice, very nice! The dark(er) shrouds/housing look sinister...

I'm curious... you mentioned bi-xenon projectors. Do you lose that feature (toggling high/low beams from the a single projector) or can you preserve/integrate it into your retro-fit setup?

"$250" for out-the-door cost for the parts/components/materials (excluding donor-headlights) is awesome! I assume that includes H.I.D. xenon bulbs, H.I.D. ballasts, wiring-harnesses/plugs/etc', projectors, lens, etc'? Only the donor-headlights/shrouds are excluded from $250?

yah... you have to spend a lot more if you send it to another company to do the retro for you. if you do it yourself then its not nearly as expensive.

i purchased all of my parts on ebay or hidplanet.com

id start there.

right now when i have the lo beams on, the HID projectors are on. but when i turn on the hi beams the HID projectors have a solenoid that allow more light to shine through the projector lenses. also, the standard halogen hi beams also turn on.

as far as price goes... lets see.

the fx35 projector plus 2 philips bulbs was 150.
the shroud was 4 bucks each... so 8 more bucks.
i bought the ballast and igniter and D2S adapter cables from DDM for 45.

total cost was 203. i had to pay for some other loose ends here and there like a few bottles of spray paint and primer and some quick splice connectors. but other than that... i didnt have to buy tools because i had a bunch already and whatever i didnt have i just borrowed from friends.

like i said... its not that expensive. it just takes some time and patience.

Oh sweet, you got the bi-xenon feature working!

Crazy-cheap price for the shrouds, too!

Right'on, man. When I first became a member of this forum, I often told people if they were patient in acquiring the parts ala'carte here-&-there, and they could do some/most/all of the work themselves, they'd be able to get a projector H.I.D. retro-fit done for ~$300 or less... most thought I was nuts! :D

yah the shrouds were really cheap but i had to spend a lot of time to make sure they fit just right. either you pay money for universal shrouds that are guaranteed to fit, or you pay in time for custom fabricating shrouds that might fit perfectly or might turn out to be a disaster. i just got lucky that they look ok.
and as for the cost... yah... the cost of all the parts is really cheap. its the labor and the time that really costs a lot of money. it took me about 4 days to complete this retrofit from start to finish.

i wish i had the time and skills to do this myself
i'm sending my lights to ceaser at lightwerks to get s2000 retrofit w/tsxr lense swap done as soon as my spare headlights come in

YIKES! how much did you buy those s2k projectors for?

those things are hard to come by but OMG the output and flicker is AMAZING!

too bad the s2ks dont come with bixenons

the projectors were 375. the place just got my headlights today so hopefully i'll get them back in about 2-3 weeks. i'll post up pictures once they come in

Whoa! Amazing job man! It looks really clean!
