Hi there,

This is my first post on this forum. I've been on it everyday since I got my Accord about 2 months back. The posts are awesome, so I just had to sign up and get involved. Good stuff!

For my first post, I wanted to get some opinions. I have the i4 version of the coupe. I got the deck lid spoiler, and have debadged the back Accord symbol. I called up Honda today, and asked them if it were possible for me to get a second muffler + tip, and they said that I could.

I was thinking of getting a performance shop to split my existing pipe, so that I could get the dual exhaust. I called a few shops and they said to bring the car in before I purchase the exhaust and tip. I like the way the dual tips look (I am purely doing this for cosmetics). I have the Aero kit as well, and there is a slot for the second tip (I assume they use the same rear bumper on the i4 and v6 models). However, if I do this, would there be any 'back pressure' issues? I've been reading on this from a few posts online. Just curious to hear your input. Is there any harm in doing this mod to my car?

Thanks!

You don't have to go to a performance shop to do this, any Midas or similar can do it and save you a crapload of money. I'd go look at a junkyard for any exhausts off a wrecked V6 Accord, but even their regular exhausts may work and match your current.. Not sure if you want to use OEM tips or not, either way, no biggie.

you will be fine with the dual exhaust, all you doing is adding more weight. don't worry about the whole back pressure problem.
yeah don't worry about losing hp and all.

It's the '08 coupe, so I'm not sure how many junk yards would carry the exhaust, but great idea! I will definitely call around. Honda is charging about $400 for the muffler and tip.

Do you think Midas would be able to do the cut?

Yea, that's basic welding stuff. If they can't/won't, find a mom& pop shp, they'll do it. But I really don't see any name brand places not doing it.

Doesn't hurt to ask as I'm pretty positive that they'll be noticeably cheaper than a performance shop.

Haha if this was my prelude forum, you would be getting bashed on for adding a second exhaust on a 4 banger. I say go for it, I think it makes the car look a lot better.

But as others said find a local shop to weld it on for you, it'll make a HUGE difference in price.

haha... I know. It's not meant for performance or anything. It is strictly cosmetics for me. Once I toss some 20's on, it's not like I can race with low pro's anyways.

My main concern was the back pressure issue. As long as that's not a problem, then it should be cool...

Thanks for the input guys. I will check out Midas on my way home tonight and post some pics once it's all done.

well i was being sarcastic, it will be a problem. you will feel the significant loss of power on normal highway driving when you go to pass someone normally, but now you're have to rev it higher to go.
just do this if its cosmetic......

me to, but seeing dual exhaust on a non v6 also makes me lol.

Yah man, just keep it with the one exhaust it looks great. You might get mocked for putting a dual exhaust on a 4 cylinder. I got an 08 Accord coupe EX i4 thinking I should have got the EX-L, but I guess I'll have to get over that choice. I still love the car anyway. Plus, I think I will have to get that deck lid spoiler. Other than that, adding tints and clear protection, and maybe lowering the car an inch, I will keep it stock. Well...I kinda want to add the auto day/night mirror too but that's it.

btw just to clear things up, that is NOT my car haha.

Man, avoid the hacking/re-welding. Just get a 'dummy' canister/muffler & buy an OEM exhaust-tip that matches the other one already on, and secure it w/ some hangers... call it a day!

EDIT: AznX TL apparently beat me to it!

so you're telling me that if i put the v6 exhaust system on my car then there will b a loss of hp??? why????? i was actually thinking about doing this

TSX is i4, it has duals... S2000 is i4, it has duals.. Nissan altima 2.5 S is i4, it has duals... why didn't the accord come with duals... HONDA should have made a different i4 rear bumper so that theres not that extra slot thats filled it... it kinda bugs me..

EDITED:

or atleast use the same motor as the tsx with a few extra ponies

I have seen TSX and S2000 modders that switched to single outlet aftermarket exhausts thoe so iuno...

tsx has duals because its a higher scale accord. if the accord had all the features of the tsx, the tsx would not sell at all. but the tsx's dual exhaust is not a true dual exhaust.

here this will explain hp loss to everyone since i dont feel like explaining it over.

be the first guinea pig and try to fit a tsx exhaust on the coupe.
