for me, deck rattles have been fix with some 3M deadening mat + carpet

Cover the whole rear deck with deadening mat, put some inside the plastic covering the deck too (under the foaming stuff they put there to cut sound)

Than cut a carpet 3 feet long by 4 inch wide and tape it behind the 6 1/2s and sub, length of the carpet going sideways of the car (carpet is to prevent the plastic hooks of the deck rattling against the deadening mat.

Car just sound really great now :)

thanks freakin,

sounds better for sure - sub finally hits more like a 'premium' sound system. still lots of room for improvement but worth a try for anyone with the 7 speaker system.

Any theories why?

Does anyone have any idea why Honda would release a "premium" audio system de-tuned to that degree? We're not talking about just a little bit de-tuned either.

That audio system has been the subject of derision since it's introduction with hundreds of dollars spent by folks trying to get it to sound just a little bit better when three minutes and just a couple of button pushes makes such a terrific difference. I can't make it make any sense at all. Any and all ideas would be welcome just to satisfy my curiosity. :)

Tried Power + DISP + BACK on my I4 EXL => DIDNT WORK :D

=> VOL + DISP + BACK => WORKED :). Make sure power is on :))
I'll edit my post so people do't have to read through

that would have put you in the first set of menus, did you hold MENU after to get to the developer ones?

How to access the developer menus

Make sure the radio is ON when you do that

Hold for 3 seconds, this gets you to the diagnostic menu

Touring or EX-L w Navi: NAV + MENU + BACK <confirmed>
EX-L w/o Navi: POWER/VOL + DISP + BACK <confirmed>
EX: POWER/VOL + DISP + BACK <confirmed>
Other trims: 1 + 6 + DISP <confirmed>

Developer menu: Hold MENU for 3 sec
Developer menu was not found on Sport trim

I would like that you guys try it in your car and post here what worked for you + your trim level. I'll update the post according to what are the results and remove the alternatives once I get confirmation that they do not work. Please indicate which other button you had to press to access the developer menu after the first step

Does the Sport have an amp that drives the audio or does it comes directly from the headunit, this could explain why you can't find the option.

I'm pretty positive the LX and SPORT models DO NOT come with an amp. Still, all EQ should be done in the HU, not the amp (unless it's a processor+amp in the EX and up....but I doubt it). I would think you would still be able to access this setting in the lower trim models, but I've been wrong before

I'll play with it when I get off work and report back

only possible reason i was thinking is because with the better sound comes many more rattles in the car. before i never heard any rattles but now the sub hiits lower and i can hear rattles with some tracks.

still not a good reason though...:dunno:

No joy here either (Sport) I get a screen with 4 option, but no diagnostics menu.
Here's hoping someone can figure this out for Sport model.:notworthy

maybe there is another key combination that we do not know about

I would be tempted by a couple of them in fact

DISP + BACK + MENU
DISP + <-<- + MENU
and
DISP + <-<- + ->->

that last one is to 'respect' the button placement that we have in the touring, but maybe asking an Honda Tech would get better results :)

I did the change this morning and the improvement is awesome. I had music playing as I made the change and it was very noticeable as I changed it to flat. Thanks to those who offered up the advice, I highly recommend it.

but even before doing that, since you have the Touring and I do too, I was able to improve by 100x the sound quality going in the developper menu and setting the DSP to Flat ON.

Steps:
Press Nav + Menu + Back 3 seconds
The 2 screens will display debug menus you should not have access normally
Press return on the touch screen one (you don't need it)
Press Menu for 3 seconds
You will be in the developer menu
Scroll down to DSP/AMP settings
Scroll to 'Flat' set it to 'On'
Enjoy!

Now you only have to press 'Return' a couple times and redo that procedure when you disconnect the battery of the car (it is not showing as saving the settings, but it does, so no need to repeat every time you start the char)

I wonder what the change actually did. Sure it's called FLAT and it might have boosted/cut some frequencies, but I wonder how much harm it might have done in the process. Too bad there are about....zero people in Oklahoma on this forum lol
