Hi, I just joined the forum, and I have an issue. So I bought a used accord, 2009 exl coupe manual 4 cyl. What I didn't notice on the test drive is that the brakes have an issue. Whenever I'm taking a slow turn, either left or right, my brakes sometimes act up. It sounds like a loud rubbing sound, but sometimes it's worse and the car tries to slow itself down. I don't know what it is or where to start looking. I ordered new rotors and pads and I'll start with that. I know it's not rubbing anything cause it's not a constant problem. Very rarely do I feel the car try to slow itself down on high speed turns. Had the car for 3 weeks and only felt the high speed turn issue maybe twice. Any ideas?

Get your brake lines bled. Small dirt particles will get into the abs system and cause it to work improperly. When you take turns, the abs system gets signals from all wheel sensors based on speed and load, and regulates the fluid pressure for each wheel to prevent lock up. During cornering, it does many functions that we're not even aware of.

I will definitely try that. Thanks for the info! I'll report back with results.

Is the sound a rumble like when ABS or stability control triggers? Does it do this with VSA off?
I actually never tried it with vsa off. And yeah I guess it could be identified as a rumble. The brake fluid is very dark, so I will bleed it and go from there.

It may or may not be normal. VSA will kick in and slow the car down whenever it detects a wheel is losing traction. This can happen pretty easily with a front wheel drive car when you are taking a tight turn and accelerating. Are you giving the car a bunch of gas or taking these turns with a lot of slip angle and speed when the VSA engages? The threshold for when you lose traction and VSA kicks in is also largely a product of your tires. Are your tires old, worn, or on the cheaper end of the spectrum? Does it feel like VSA is kicking in well before the point where you are losing traction?

If the brake fluid is dark it would be a good idea to give the system a good bleed.

Bringing this thread back from the dead. I got used to driving the car by just turning off vsa, but now i installed aftermarket wheels without the tpms and now there is no way to ignore the "grind" on turns. Since i can no longer turn of vsa because the tpms light is on i now need to get this fixed. I bled the brakes, the old fluid was basically black, now its clear, but that didn't do anything. What else can i look for?

It does it completely randomly on turns. I can be doing a normal turn goin 10mph and it will try to lock up and slow the car down, it can do it when i come off a stop and take a turn, and it just once grinded/locked up a little when i was doing 50mph and taking a ramp exit, but that was a rare case. Most common is coming off a stop and taking either a left or right turn when the vsa activates and tries to slow the car down. I'll look into the fuse, i think i tried removing some fuses related to vsa or tpms before but they changed nothing.
