Installed the new grille yesterday and I have to say that, after seeing it in person Honda should have made this the Sport trims grille and not an accessory. So far I haven't seen any Accords where I live that have it, I might be the first.

Looks like it's all gloss black? looks good. Not sure why they went with black chrome and stopped at the grille. They should've 'black chromed' all the existing chrome (window trim, badges, tail pipe thingies, etc...) on the sport. I think that would've looked sick.

I like the grille but think it makes the car look the same as a Civic. And they already look similar to begin with. I know the front "unibrow" design is divisive but at least it is distinct.

What I did was Just tape all the paint above the grille with blue painters tape as well as the top part of the headlights where it meets the grille I began by pulling the ends away from the bumper and used a trim removal tool to loosen the main tab below the emblem. Then there are two to either side of the "H" that come out easier with the tool once the one in the middle is separated from the lower grille. I should mention that there are two plastic covers that are above each headlight on the end that need to be removed by taking the 3 push button clips off. This can easily be done with the bumper still attached and took me no longer than 30 minutes.

The best part of the Civic is the front so I see that as a positive. The black looks 10x better than chrome.

If you get the pre-cut vinyls and do the install yourself, yes it's cheaper. Otherwise, it may be a little bit more costly, especially if someone does it due to the labor.


I did mine with the cover overlays and it's amazing. Uses 3M tape and goes over the existing trim. I also added other black trims below the fog light and intercooler + JDM Type-R style lip spoiler.

That really gives the car a more aggressive look. I ordered one and then cancelled my order after rationalizing and realizing that my money could go towards something else. I'm going to have a local shop vinyl wrap it with 3M gloss wrap. I've seen and Accord they did and it looks awesome.

Vinyl is always an option... I got a great deal on everything + had some eBay bucks, coupons, and discounts. Didn't spend much on all the mods.

I was quoted 90$ installed for the entire piece in 3M gloss vinyl. I think that's a very fair price given the material used. I honestly think it beats what I was originally going to pay for the OEM Honda piece. And quiet honestly I like the shape of the grill that comes in our Sport trims as opposed to the blacked out one by Honda, just my humble opinion. :nerd

You should go ahead and get the chrome window trim wrapped also.
