So I was cleaning the windshield and noticed what I thought was a scratch. After looking at it closer it seems there is a piece of hair in between the tow pieces of glass. I only have about 1400 miles on the car. I haven't noticed it until now, do you guys think I should bring it in, and would the warranty even cover such a thing?

I'd give it a shot with warranty.....If I was the rep, I would replace it if you stood firm but if you were acceptable to doing something a bit less, I'd offer a lease/finance payment or two for goodwill... remember when windshields are replaced, the car can exhibit some squeeks and rattles that are impossible to fix....like cracking an egg....

I would think it is considered a manufacturing defect and should be covered.

Is it in a critical area where you will notice it while driving and bother you?

I ask since they will need to remove the windshield and replace and reseal it. I am one to try and avoid sealing repairs since they always give ME problems such as Glen stated. Squeaks and rattles and such. But that's my problem.

The hair MAY cause delamination of the two sheets of glass although I believe it is the plastic film sandwiched between the two plates of safety glass that is scratched or torn.

In any case I would mention it to the dealer service dept and get it on record that it is there and recorded as a possible problem. Down the road, if you decide not to pursue the fix and something does happen to the windshield, you can have a record of the problem to fall back on.

Thanks for that suggestion. It's actually on the passenger side so no big deal with it messing with my driving. I will probably do what you mentioned if it does cause issues down the road. I've gone a month and a half without noticing it so hopefully after I report it I'll forget about it at some point.

Oh well. At least you didn't find a HAIRline crack!

I would get it replaced because it may not be a hair and may be a de-lamination. I have had windshields replaced without any problems. They were done out in the parking lot at work or in my driveway. It's under warrantee just get replaced before it becomes a big issue.

Well, since Flyboy advises getting it replaced, that brings up another question. What do you guys think about the note on page 459 of the sedan owners manual about replacing the windshield on models with the FCW and LDW camera behind the windshield. Yet another reason to go to a dealer, like for "Genuine Honda" fluids, where before we might have just had a generic auto glass firm do the job?

I wonder if the after market windshield companies, the ones who come to your car, have replacement windshields that meet the FCW and LDW camera specifications. Also, if you have the windshield replaced buy an after market company, will you still have to bring the car to the dealer to have them adjust the camera system. Has anyone had a windshield replaced on a 2013 car with FCW and LDW?

Honda does not make windshields. The one on your car now is not made by Honda. The replacement windshield from the installer will be fine.

it's completely covered by warranty and would have a Honda glass as a replacement.

I disagree about the statement of a replacement glass causing squeaks and rattles though - if properly done it will be just fine, and any squeaks and rattles that occur will be under warranty anyway.

i'd say bring it in and have them look at it.

Agreed any issues that they cause while repairing a warranty item is covered it'll just be a hassle to bring it back and forth.

Hope they get it right the first time.
