If you don't want the badge, may as well just ditch the whole cover. My 2 cents.
I *think* he just wants to remove the badge while he paints the plastic cover and I would assume would add the badge back after it has been painted.

actually i would like to get a custom badge made to replace the earth dreams one, tough to find a place to do it, all i can find is places that do custom stickers and vinyl, and custom billet pieces which is way to expensive.

You have to install studs in place of all the bolts and then use the acorn nuts. Loctite on the studs is a good idea.
I'm 7 years late to this discussion, but I'll ask my questions anyway. I love the idea of removing the plastic cover, painting the valve cover, and placing a badge on it. BUT:
1) Isn't it hard to adhere stick-on badges to the textured ("wrinkled") VHT paint? Wouldn't you want a smooth surface?
2) Can the stick-on plastic badges handle the 220° the valve cover gets to?
