In MY2014, Honda added a nice rubberized mat at the bottom of the center dash area (by the USB and power outlets) so items don't slide around and make noise rattling against the hard plastic. Nice addition.

Unfortunately for MY2013 owners, this part is not available as a separate part item from Honda.

Message to Honda: Why not make this available as its own part number so MY2013 owners can get this?

Are there any others who would happily fork over $5-10 to have this mat for their 2013 Accord?

This been discussed before, you have to buy the console part entirely.

I don't want to throw a bomb here, but I have VERY HIGH doubts about Honda reading this forum.

I agree. I made one from a Handstands mat. Was no big deal. Quicker and easier than whining. No drama.
Excatly what I was thinking. Buy a non slip mat from Walmart for like $5-10 and cut it to fit.

That's an interesting subtle difference between the 2013 & 2014 Accords. I think another change for 2014 was the elimination of the handle to assist with closing the trunk. I now wonder what subtle changes/improvements were made to the 2015 Accords.

Yes, I am a 2014 owner and I haven't yet figured out how to close the trunk without an "assist handle"

So I've been driving around with my trunk wide open for 10 months since I owned the car

Without that piece of rubber handle I'm lost

I thought I remembered a thread on here were someone listed the part number for just the rubber piece. Try giving College Honda a holler and see if they can help you out.

Then you shouldn't be driving at all. I didn't say the lack of an "assist handle" was a problem. I just pointed out that it was eliminated on the 2014 models. Stop trying to be cute. It's making you look foolish.

Thanks I'll keep that in mind

And perhaps you don't have all the backstory that led me to my comment.

There was at one time lots of discussion and threading about "WHY DID HONDA GET RID OF THE ASSIST HANDLE" and people spending lots of time trying to figure out whether they could go buy one and add it to their 2014s and cut holes in the lining and everything else. To which I rolled my eyes since, as I said, I've not had a problem using my hand and pulling down on the trunk (gasp - touching the metal on the outside!) and closing it.

So anyway that's what I was thinking when I read your comments

But it *is* interesting to try to figure out what small, unpublished changes Honda makes from year to year. Most of us have only one Accord; as a 2014 owner, I had no idea there was a trunk handle in the 2013s until I read it here. And of course, I just presume all 9th gen have the non slip mat like mine does.

Good reading on a slow news day.

Actually, I do know the backstory. I read the same discussions you did. That's how I knew about the trunk assist handle.

This is just my thoughts, but explaining why you posted what you did helps a lot. Out of context it does appear that you were being condescending, especially to me. I'm sure others may have thought so as well.

Anyway, no harm, no foul. I apologize for my snappy comeback.

Peace!

$12 including S/H. Not bad for a genuine Honda part and CHH's initiative to make this happen.

For those who scoffed... enjoy your home-cut rubber mat from the dollar store. ;)

Did they come in the 2014 accords? I have bought 2 2013's and both of them didn't come with the mats.
