hi i have a question

i got my 08 accord sedan ex-l a week ago, and i decide to get HID on my car i saw some of you guys pic, how did u guys make cut off line?
i checked www.honda.ca but there is no projector in my car, also there is no projector for my 08 accord sedan what should i do?

i really wanna get nice HID on my car Plz let me know what should i do or get?

sorry be the bearer of bad news... but there is no projectors in the sedan. the coupes have the projectors. although i seen people that have the sedan and went with PnP kit. the light will be dispersed and will have a lil bit of a glare.. compared to the projectors.. (coupes) but coupes will have some glare too since the material in the housings reflect light. i'm thinking of cooking my housing and coloring it or even go with the carbon fiber option later. but for now.. it looks pretty HOtt.. but both options will result in the cutoff line. regardless projector or not... just that projectors will be a bit more sharper than just a regular housing... without..

there are some posts regarding installation and which kit people bought.. there is also a group buy thing for digital HID kit somewhere in this forum.
whatever you do with your car is your choice... but let me remind you that some people feel very strongly about installing HIDs on non HID intended cars.... so get ready for the bashing...!!!!!!

ask GigaS27.. his got a 8000K HID PnP kit on his sedan. he loves it. theres a post with the pictures of his car with HID. check it and see for yourself.

well... i checked everything but i couldn't get where should i can get HID retrofit from online also i can't install it in my car by myself anyone know any shop in TORONRO ONTARIO?

Just get a PnP, you should be just fine. Going retro will cost you 600% or more and you may gain 20% benefit.

the difference between a proper retro and PnP in reflector housings is like night and day. ive gone through 3 retros and let me tell you, it is the way to go. I plan on doing retro's once i get my accord coupe as well. need to find the dimensions of the housing and will definitely do a retro.

I don't get it, Your going to retro a car that already has decent projectors and they handle hids PERFECTLY fine..

It makes no sense to spend a few hundred dollars for a better cut off line....

fine, but not great. the cutoff may be ok with minimal glare, but a GOOD hid projector will shine wider, farther and more evenly, on top of having a "cooler" (more sharp or colorful) cutoff line. some people think its worth it, some people not. but there is a difference.

although the bmw HID projectors arent spectacular, im sure if you put your 335 side by side with your accord with HID kit, the 335's output will be better.

yeah, but people are staring at our cars more because they cant believe its a honda!

I got some looks the other night when I took mine out w/HID's.
yup, anytime i valet it or drive up to starbucks and get out...heads are turning...its a great feeling

oh and this happens....

i went head to head with couple of cars and there is definitely a difference between real(OEM) HIDs and my PnP kit. again.. i have the cheapest kit that money can buy... ($74 shipped from ebay + DIY so no cost for installation)

head to head comparo:
ACURA TL 07/08
IS 350
Cadi STS
RDX
C350 08
325i

all these cars will wash my HID kit out. there light output is much better and brighter. it could be because i have a 8000K HID kit too..(more bluish than white...) but just by having the car sitting side by side, my light output is poor compared to the OEM HID kits on these cars.

but the real cost to any of these cars to have the OEM kit(usually $1000+) vs. my $74.00.. i think it's well worth it. it will be nice to have the OEM option.. but since we dont... i think the best and most practical way to get this problem resolve is to just do the PnP kit in my opinion...

retro is good.. but i think it cost so much... for something that you could actually do yourself...

anyone know the recipe for "COOKING the headlight housing" ??

trust me, its a day and night difference between ANY PnP into projectors. you have to remember the design of the projector itself was not made for Xenon. If it fits, i plan on doing S2k's with a clear lense, or RX330 with a 300zx clear lense. Of course i'll be doing the labor myself and i already have a few parts laying around the house. it'll cost me 200 bucks at most, the cost of a PnP kit =)

i already have denso slim ballasts and 4300k d2s bulbs. that alone saves me 200 bucks so i just might get rx330 afs projectors and a 300zx clear lense. i loved that combo on my civic.

8,000K color temperature is your biggest downfall, you are probably 30% or more down in illumination intensity from too high a color temperature alone, search the web and you will find the lumin numbers for each color temperature, I recall 3,200 lumens for the 4,300K (OEM range) and it just gets worse (i.e. lower lumens) from there when the color temperature increases.

8,000K blue light is for show and no go, that is why it's a poor choice in real life when you actually want to illuminate the road and the objects in front of you, and you have unfortunately found out the hard way.

Huh? Did you mean to say PnP into "Reflectors"? and what does it mean "projector itself was not made for Xenon"? Are you referring HID as Xenon? There are aftermarket hologen bulbs that have percentage of Xenon gases, are you referring to those?

I would never state PnP in a reflector housing is going to be equal or better than a true projector lens based OEM HID lighting system, because it's not and never will be, but nor would I ever state that by stuffing a big engine into a small car that it is going to be as good as a Ferrari or Lambo.

However, a PnP kit in some cars, and it appears to be the case especially in 8th Gen Coupe, are pretty darn good for the cost and convinence of installation, and is good enough for most people, myself included.

But that is apparently not good enough for you because the cut-off pattern isn't sharp enough for you, which is fine.

So, go right ahead with your retro, I am sure it will most likely turn out to be spectacular, but you will have significant down time while you work out the kinks in disassembling the OEM headlight, figure out how and how much to cut out the back of the OEM light housing, then figure out how to mount the RX/ZX/S2K light module, hide the buchered cut-out with some sort of circular ring, paint the remaining parts to take away the minor reflection, do the wiring, adjust the light module and hope you have enough play to roughly aim the module straight, reglue the housing together and hope the seal is perfect so there won't be mositures getting in later, adjust the aim angle and hope nothing had shifted before the housings pieces were glued back together, etc. etc.

I'm getting tired just from typing this!

So, here's a toast to the sharp cut-off pattern on your retro!

most definitely. people have yet to realize that the reason people get the higher color temp is to imitate the color flicker of OEM projector xenons. when i had my civic retroed, coming head on, my headlights looked blue and purple. of course it was just the color above the cutoff line. i was running 4300k bulbs too, just that the combo of the clear lense made the cutoff a lot more colorful.
