Hi. I have a 2014 Sport Sedan with a CVT bought new now at around 170K miles. Outside of TSB/recall, I have always gone to independent shops for maintenance such as oil (filter)change, CVT fluid change, brakes. I changed coolant, spark plugs, air and cabin filters myself, usually following the maintenance minder.

The ABS module failed at 160K miles and I had it repaired and reinstalled for $800. The car also started consuming oil for at 150K. To counter that, I monitor it and add when necessary. I've since switched to 5W30 as a possible solution. There is some oil residue on the outside of the valve cover (?) so the valve cover gasket is failing or have failed. The check engine light came on twice for emissions / catalytic coverter issue but went away after a few days.

The car is my only car so I need it to be reliable. Plan to keep it as long as possible. Outside of maintenance minders, what recommended items should I should do to keep it running and not break down on me?

Thank you.

14 sport here w 180k...valve cover gasket will seep that's more annoying than anything but just replaced mine and it's good and a diy job and no leaks.
If you.take it off you can see evidence of good or bad maintenance by the color of the valve train no brown stains is a clue oil has been changed, if in there do plugs.

On the serpentine belt I would change water pump tensioner and belt, I just did so my kid doesn't have issues.
I would be looking at trans too when was the last time it was charged?
Chaintensioner done recently ?
How's your suspension?

Changed trans fluid twice only. The maintenance minder only came up for it twice. I could do it more often.

Have not done tensioners. I'll look into how to do those.

Unsure about suspension. Car rides fine. Any wear items to look out for?

Thank you.

My belief is the wheel bearings might make noise sooner than other cars and need to be replaced if that comes about. Find that when riding next to a" jersey wall "roll down the windows to hear it and maybe which side the noise is coming from.
