I am getting ready to pull the trigger on a 2010 Accord coupe. One of the most important things to me in my vehicles is the sound system. I plan to install a high powered SQ system right off the bat in my new car. I have read many complaints here on this board about how bad Hondas rattle and squeak just driving down the road let alone with a decent system on board. This concerns me. Squeaks and rattle drive me nuts!

Yesterday I stopped by a local car audio shop to check out some potential equipment for the new install. The sales guy offered to have me take a listen to his set up in his Mustang. The subs and amp he's running are pretty much what I will have in the new car. We got in and he started playing some music to highlight the subs. All I could say is that sounds like crap! All I could hear was the trunk rattling when the bass would hit. I mean it really sounded horrible. I think he was surprised when I said it but c'mon, why spend all that money and have it sound that bad? He did not have any sound deadening on the trunk lid and it had a spoiler on the back as well.

My question is can the Accord be deadened in a way that one can eliminate the rattles and buzzes caused by a pair of twelves in the trunk? Man I hope so because what I heard in the Stang was totally unacceptable to me. Of course I plan to use a Dynamat like product on my install. I just want to make sure it will be worth the time and investment. IOW once deadened will the rattles be gone? My current vehicle, an '07 Tundra DC, has no rattles at all. Of course that's with the subs in the cabin with me.

In my 03 i have none but the trunk lid a little bit with my sub. If i push on it just the slightest it goes away. Easy fix. I have descent amount of dynamat in the car. Two layers on the doors with one layer on the door panels as well. Putting some on my trunk lid will probably rid my problem with that issue. If you do things right you won't have any. If you do easy to rid them just like any other car.

MM - Glad to see you are interested is making your car sound great. Sound Deadening is VERY important to any car system but since you're installing quality products, it's more important to make sure the car is correctly deaden. So the 1st time I got my "high" sound system installed, I thought it sounded like the best in the world. But I stepped out to listen to badass bass and it sounded like coins in a tin can. Can you believe the shop didn't even bring up the deadening subject?

So, I went on the net and reseached deadening materials and found Second Skin Audio (SSA). I know there's Dynamat but after using SSA I have never looked back. I've helped my friends cars, my wifes SVU and my own cars with SSA installs and we all notice the difference; it's a better drive, the music sounds great and less road noise.

Btw, do it yourself...its fun, you feel impowered and you have satifaction. Do it once, do it right and save yourself money.

I always use the following supplies.

1. Damp Pro - the doors have Bulk pack, 36sf, truck has a truck pack 20sf
2. Luxury Liner Pro - the outter door skins has 1/2 sheet each...each full sheet is 9sf, truck has 1 sheet.
3. Over Kill - the inner door skins has 1/2 sheet each...each full sheet is 9sf

mostly what rattles is the inside. you won't hear much rattling from the outside. just the license plate. the inside is a pain because of the backseat panels. alot of plastic.

yeah theres a thread on here. i think its the named sound deadening. talks about dynamatting the whole car LOL. big discussion about it. it will be very helpful. search the forum. good luck
