so i just had to put gas in my 2005 accord v6 yesterday...and i noticed that only a little more than 14 gallons went in. i had been driving w/ the reserve light for over 10 miles, and that means i still had 3 gallons left in the tank! seems weird to me...

.....right in the ball park. Repeated calcs show about 3.3 gallons remain for my 6M upon low fuel light glow.............

...ez....

You don't want to go too low because the fuel keeps the fuel pump from overheating. Also, sometimes you may be in an area where gas is 2-3 gallons away.

It depends. The best way to find out is to fill your tank. When the light comes on, fill your tank again (preferably in the same way). You can then subtract this with the listed tank capacity. You have to add some allowance to that and there you go.

Ordinarily I fill as soon as the light comes on if not sooner. I usually just fill when less than 1/2 and I see a good price from my normal brand.

Not sure. I never let it go below half a tank. Once I hit half a tank, i fill'er up again.
I hate having less. Someone said its about 3 gallons left when running on "empty".
I dont think its good anyway to let your tank empty out like that too.
Just my opinioin.

good to know.

i also just noticed that when the reserve light comes on, the meter is NOT on empty yet, it's above and continues to go down. this is my major complaint for having the reserve light come on w/ a bunch of gas left, because you have no idea whether you have 3 gallons or 1/4 gallon left, since the meter is just at empty. good job honda!

Gas gauges aren't known for being accurate anyway. It's better to judge how much gas you have left with how many miles you driven so far.

Your AVG MPG X YOUR TANK SIZE = MILES YOU CAN DRIVE

MILES YOU CAN DRIVE WITH A FULL TANK -(subtract) MILES YOU'VE DROVE(SINCE YOUR LAST COMPLETE FILL UP) = MILES LEFT YOU CAN DRIVE

MILES/MPG= HOW MANY GALLONS YOU HAVE LEFT
