Have stock wheels from wifes 2020 forester, and was excited to see the bolt pattern matched the 2007 accord. Like a fool, I ordered up some fresh 225 50 17 of amz and had them mounted before even taking looking at accord wheels. Well, I looked online and noticed the wheel hub is much smaller, and all the old posts say you need to machine out the wheels. I was hoping there is another option like a reducing or lug centric spacer since I already mounted the tires, and the wheels are not worth any extra expense (ill just get used honda wheels). Is there any decent options out there?

presumably you meant hub-centric, not lug-centric, but that only works when the hub on the car is smaller than the bore of the wheel

the right way to do this is to machine out the wheels to fit. the wrong way (and to be clear, i'm not recommending this) would be to use a spacer to push the wheel out far enough to clear- 10mm or so would probably do it. the thing is, you'd run into other issues- spacers typically don't have hub rings smaller than 25mm, a 10mm spacer is probably safe on thread length but 15 is pushing it, and then whatever the forester sizing + the spacer is might cause you clearance issues.

you're best off selling the wheels + tires to someone who can use them and buying something that will actually fit

Well, since most wheels are Aluminum alloy of some sort, you could take a carbide rabbeting bit and a router to bore it out yourself. With a center bore of 56.1 you need to get to 64.1 mm....or about 4mm depth of cut. You could achieve this by taking a rabbet bit that normally cuts 1/4" depth and wrapping the guide bearing with enough foil tape that it only cuts to a 4mm (or 0.157") depth. HOWEVER, some people argue that the center bore provides more strength than is generally known and it might weaken the rim too much (I don't buy that myself but I'll mention it for the sake of completeness). Oh, and set the router depth to about 1/4" to clear the Honda hub.

While I like the idea of a shim plate the offset is working against you. The offset on the subaru will be 48mm while the Accord is 55mm (farther in), but to clear the center bore will require another 1/4" minimum (6.3mm) for a total offset of 13.3mm away from stock, which is starting to get up there.

Are the lugs on the 2020 subaru an acorn seat like Honda or is a flat seat like a toyota, or a cone seat that mates with the wheel?

Or, you could just sell (or trade) the wheels and buy something else.
