driving an 08 coupe v6... I don't know how long its been going on since I can't hear it when the window is closed and the music is going... but recently i noticed a really loud screeching noise outside my car... when I break its even louder... like a drill drilling into steel

its inconsistent tho so its there sometimes and sometimes not... 50/50

anybody with the same experience or experienced?

going to check it up with the dealer on sat... this type of check up is covered in warranty right?

Probably the brakes :dunno:

if so they'll screech/squeal even if i'm not braking? that's the thing i don't get...
Yes, they screech even when you aren't braking.

There is a piece of metal on the pads that touches the rotor when the pads are worn. When worn down enough the metal touches the pad all of the time and makes noise to let the owner know it's time for new pads.

Yeah I had the same problem. It is the worn out pads that create the noise you are hearing.

Get them replaced and your noise will be gone...

mines inconsistent tho... but i hope its just that and nothing big... seems very quick because i just replaced them last summer under warranty

Like others said, it will make the screeching even when the brakes are not applied when they are starting to get near the wear indicator. It may not be exactly all the time for awhile; but, if you keep driving like that it will be.

The original OEM rear brake pads wear unusually fast (if they are the old part number). Brake wear still depends somewhat on your driving style and mileage you put on. I've already replaced my rear brake pads twice (when I bought the replacement pads, the dealer only had the pads with the old part number). I drive a lot of miles though (around 20,000 - 25,000 miles a year).

Yes, I had the same issue turned out to be just what everyone is saying here the pads were worn and the audible wear sensor that's on the actual brake pads. It would make a slight grinding sound when brakes not applied and sometimes screech as well and would screech real loud when brakes were applied.

did you guys all just replace it with the OEM one then? or go for something else?
I replaced the rear pads with Duralast Gold Cmax. With Honda's EBD system, the rear brakes do the majority of the braking under normal condition. My OEM rear pads need replacement every 30K so never having to purchase more rear pads will save a bunch of money in the long run. The OEM front pads still look good as new after 60K. I may never need to replace them

its obviously a flock of parakeets stuck in engine compartment. Just open the hood and let them out....... nah just brakes... the honda brakes from factory **** mine were shot in 19k miles... dealership gave it to me for free
