So I finally received my $13 camera I ordered from China two long months ago. I tapped into the 6 pin connector behind the glove box and it works fine.

Now my question is how have people been tapping into the reverse lights for power? Is there an easy or preferred way of doing this? I'm also wondering if it possible to tap into the nav dvdrom for power? Looking for recommendations and if you have pics even better.

BTW, I found the close to perfect connector for interfacing with the 6 pin port up front. I used an old computer cable, the one you used to run between the cdrom and the sound card. Fit perfectly and made that part of the install a breeze, plug and play.

can you give us the link to the camera you got? I'm need to install a camera too. You need a fairly long cable to connect to the camera all the way from the glove compartment to the rear. Does the camera come with a cable like that?

6 pin connector supplies the power in the OEM camera.
Yeah I figured it probably did. When I measured the output it was approximately 8V. The camera I ordered says it needs 12V +/- 10%. So I didn't bother trying. Also, I believe that 8V is constant, which could shorten the life of your $13 camera lol.

Lower right of the driver's side you can tap into the wire in the harness. I think it was like a light blue color wire. Just look at the color of the wire going to the reverse light (open the trunk area). I did that and it works great.

Thanks, I know exactly what you're talking about. I pulled the lining in the trunk and inspected the wire colours, blue and black. So this makes sense.

Thanks
