Well, I was lucky enough to have my ECU flashed with a Ktuner on Friday, and here are my initial thoughts: --> AWESOME <--

I want to start off by saying: as a manual driver the rev hang on this car was borderline infuriating. It didn't seem to matter how long I had been driving my Accord, shifting was always somewhat tedious, inconsistent, and sometimes a little bit sloppy. Lo and behold! I flash Ktuner and all of a sudden it's like I'm driving a completely different car. I literally had to spend two days re-learning how to drive it. Shifting without rev-hang makes the experience 1000x more enjoyable. Launching is better, shifting is better and faster, rev matching is easier and faster, and it seems like I'm finally communicating with my car, if that makes any sense. If I knew what a difference this particular aspect of the tune was going to make on my Accord, getting Ktuner would still be worth it in my book even if I gained NO horsepower.

Ok, and YES the car feels faster. The difference feels more significant than when I installed my HFPCs (which added 12whp), so I wouldn't hesitate to guess that flashing Ktuner added around 20whp, maybe more (<--- just a guess!). Obviously the bolt-ons I have and the tune go hand in hand, in case anyone is thinking that I'm downplaying RV-6.

2nd gear goes by so quickly now, I have to be careful not to bang the rev limiter. 1st gear is borderline useless. Torque seems increased across the board. Horsepower gains are really noticeable up top. Don't ask me why, and maybe I'm just imagining it, but the car sounds different too. Smoother, but at the same time more aggressive and visceral somehow. Yeah don't ask.

All in all, really great bang for the buck. The best surprise that I wasn't expecting was how much the tune improved the drive-ability of my car, the extra power just seems like an added bonus, that's how drastic the change was.

Thank you Ktuner, I've fallen in love with my car all over again.

You said you had the ECU reflashed…..did you do it? I’m most interested to hear how that experience went. To be candid I’m concerned about screwing something up if I do this myself. I love the idea of eliminating rev hang. OMG I can’t tell you how much that would improve the car! Any power gains would be icing on the cake.

But I know nothing about how to “plug and play” with this stuff. How many variables are there? How do I know what to change? How WOULD I change a parameter? How do I know when I’ve maximized a specific parameter? Is there even a need to alter the reflash? Any instructional videos? To be candid the only thing stopping me from buying the reflash right now is my fear of damaging my perfectly functional car.

To Throwdown, if you’re reading this, did I see somewhere that you are located in NJ? If I wanted help, do you provide professional help? At what cost? Feel free to PM me on that if interested.

He would have opened the base tune and changed the "rev hang" setting from 100 to 0. Then hit upload. There's no chance of damaging the vehicle in this scenario. It's very easy and straight forward. There's a tutorial video on the website in the Online Help Videos section.

Worry not. If you botch a flash the ECU goes into recovery mode and the software will recover it for you. Beyond that you can open the base tune again if you've messed with too many settings or even flash back to stock easily from the menu.

If you can run a puter you can flash your ECU. Not a big thing and they can remote in to you if you have wi-fi and do it for you while you watch. It is a little scary for sure but not a big deal to do.

There are two ways to do this, you go to a KTune supported shop and they flash it and you drive away. Or you buy the flash unit and do it yourself giving you the option to go back to a normal as is factory setting anytime you like. Of course the factor of the the two is cost. I went with a flash unit as I want total control of my car.

You would purchase the KTuner hardware, and then proceed to contact a tuning service (either via email or an in person street/dyno tune).

Email tunes work as follows--they send you a base tune. You datalog a 3rd gear pull from ~1800rpm to redline. Email it to them, they send you another revision. Rinse and repeat.

Afterwards, the tuner will focus on part throttle driveability and fuel economy. Usually you'll be done anywhere between 5-15 revisions.

I would not recommend changing "parameters" yourself if you aren't experienced. Just pay a tuning service (PM if you'd like a recommendation).

Basically all you need is a laptop. You install the Ktuner software. You set ignition into second position so accessories are powered up. Connect the Ktuner to the OBDII port and connect that to your laptop with the USB cable that is provided. The software will attempt to connect to the unit (if it doesn't disconnect and reconnect cable). Once you're connected you're ready to go, all you do is load the base tune file and hit upload and it does all the rest for you. At some point you'll hear the fuel pump prime. Once it's done you're good to go. You might get FCW and LDW failure messages on the dash but that's normal and they'll go away the second or third time you start the car.

P.S. Don't touch anything while the file is uploading.

Does this tune completely void the warranty? Or is it reversible?? Really interested

Sorry to revive a dead thread but reading this sold me, I'm going to purchase Ktuner right now. Was wondering if anyone has a good base tune they'd be willing to send me? I've got a 2009 6-6 with Magnaflow cat back and a Takeda SRI if that matters.

It should come with tunes for basic bolt ons

Check the 8th Gen forums or start a new thread there with your request

I just got a KTuner, connected, locked, uploaded the Base Factory Tune, removed the Overrun Throttle Compensation (Rev Hang), reflashed the ECU and could not be happier!

IF that rev hang bugs you like it did me, and others, this is your solution.

Ok, after 2 weeks of driving around with ZERO rev hang, I changed it to 20% yesterday. The shift to the next gear is a tad smoother at 20%. Not sure I'll stay at 20, just experimenting.

Anyone with the MT mess with the DBW settings? I know the AT guys have in another thread, but the base MT settings are completely different than the ones they show in that thread. Curious about your results in changing that throttle curve, and which of the two to choose from (I don't care about ECON mode).

Also curious if there were any other drivability changes you made, and what they were.
