I've noticed the lane detector only works 50% of the time. It almost doesn't work at all at night. I have the exl v6.

Anyone notice this issue?

This is the biggest safety reason why I bought this car.

I got tired of hearing mine and so I just switched it off. I'll be using it only for long trips from now on.

I'd be interested to know why it was such an important feature for you that it was one of the reasons you decided on this car.

Keep in mind you need to be going around 40mph or above for the LDW to work
It's a great little feature, but don't depend on it

Very helpful info. Thanks

I work long hours and am usually feel sleepy on my way home. This feature helps a lot in my case.

I know what you mean
My class schedules are all over the place
I get little sleep and drive out at 6:30 in the morning then drive back around 10:30 at night
So i can kind of understand what you mean

But when it warns you it warns you. Does not mean that it is bad.

sqa, the beep is so soft you can not hear it over the radio at moderate volumes so a good idea to turn the radio down if getting sleepy. Also Starbucks might help too.

Read the manual. I believe you have to be going a lot less than 40mph for it to work and yes if it can not see the lines it is not going to work. IMO, LW and the BU camera are the most functional out of the 3 safety systems. FCW is a joke IMO and should work like Subaru's eyesight system to be more effective.

LDW is better than FCW which is a joke I agree. Both alams are way too soft to be of real value. For LDW a vibration in the steering wheel like Infiniti aor seats like caddy or audio rumble strips like Audi would be nice but a louder alarm and radio mute which could be driver selectable would be simple and cheap.

Mine works at speeds of 30-35 maybe even less. I like it. FCW needs to be radar based not camera based to have any value. See video below

My experience is that all three features work way beyond my expectations.

I didn't buy the car specifically for any of those features. I turned off LDW as soon as I bought the car. I went on a test drive on a winding back road and it was constantly beeping. Hellllll no...

I do like FCW, surprisingly so. It's a pretty sweet feature!

It's too bad only the Touring has radar-based FCW, courtesy of its ACC system. I just don't see how a little camera mounted above the rearview mirror can be of much use for FCW or LDW. Radar works better for FCW and I imagine that something like a downward-facing camera in each sideview mirror would be more ideal for LDW.

That looks terrifying lol Can you imagine being the car stopped at a red light and the truck driver isn't paying attention or fell asleep like that? I'd be jumped out of my car and halfway across the street by the time the truck stopped on its own.

I too find the LDW and FCW pretty useless in real life situations. These are potentially very useful as safety devices, but these are at the level of half-baked ideas. The blind side camera can tell you if you hit a bicycle, fine, but the main blind side is on the left, not the right.

Perhaps Honda engineers were too preoccupied with the earthquakes and tsunamis and nuclear disasters to fully focus on developing workable systems, which is understandable, but the company should not have rushed out such sloppy technology. Maybe they did it just to be able to add items to their features list, perhaps to improve sales and create buzz.

BMW did the same a decade ago, and really embarrassed themselves. Honda should have learned from their mistakes.

I think the engineers where preoccupied with cost and thats why we get half baked systems and Acura IMO has always put a lid on Honda advancement
ehhh no...nothing is a "conspiracy" here....to do volume you have to "preoccupied with costs"....for a 25K car, this is what you get...wanna real system using multiple cams and radar? Pay the touring price or BMW $40K price and you get systems that work better as they use more sophisticated ways to get it done.BTW, BMW loses the LDW too, because if you can't see the lines, there is not much you can do until they bury emitters in the road....

Thank the public that demands these systems, and Honda is forced to get it done, but still charge 23 - 26K for a commuter sedan...
