I currently own a 2013 Accord EX and am considering upgrading to a 2019 EXL 1.5

I am looking for opinions of those who have made such a move from a gen 9 to a gen 10.

I sat in the gen 10 at an auto show and think the interior is nice step up. My only concern is the console hitting my right knee. Is this something you get used to?

I haven't done a test drive yet.

How would you compare the driving experience of the 10th gen (1.5) to the 9th (2.4)? How is the visibility compared to the 9th?

Has anyone with the 1.5 had any issue with fuel in the oil like the CRV? I am not looking for hearsay but actual owners who experienced the problem.

Thanks!

I traded my 2013 EX-L w Nav for a 2019 Touring Hybrid. I love the new car! No problem with my knee hitting the console - it doesn't. The power train is quiet and VERY economical. Just as much power as I had in the old car. Love the adaptive cruise control and other safety features. I don't really notice any great change in the visibility, but I DO miss (just a little bit) the camera that was in the passenger side rear view mirror. However, the hazard warning lights in both mirrors in the new car are pretty good too. Seems to have a better rear view camera. I like the wheel shake lane departure warning better than the beep and light the 2013 had. No problems at all so far with the new vehicle.

I switched from a 2015 sport to a 2016 sport after an accident. Both cars were great. Just recently, about a month ago upgraded to the 2019 2.0 sport. By far best decision yet. I am extremely happy with the car. Zero complaints so far.

Thanks for the comments everyone! I am going to test drive the car but I wanted comments from people who actually live with the car.

I am very picky when it comes to cars and appreciate the feedback!

I had 2014 Sport 6MT, and bought 2019 Sport 2.0 6MT, love that power, and milage is about 1l/100km more, small price to pay for all this smooth acceleration

Had a 2017 Sport SE for two years and 18,600 miles. When the lease ended I bought a 2019 Sport 2.0T.

No comparison. The 2019 is better in every way than the 2017. More features. More tech. More power.

My only gripe is the small fuel tank in the 10th gen (discussed all over this forum) but otherwise the new Accord is a far superior car than the old one.

I'm in the same boat. I'm glad you started this thread at this point in time. I'm going tomorrow to pick up a 2019 2.0T Sport with manual transmission and can't WAIT! I did test drive one that a dealer tried to rip me a new one on ($44K financed) a few days ago. I didn't beat on it, but I can tell it's more powerful than the V6, especially at high elevation.

The 1.5T compared to the 2.4 - never drove either of them but the turbo changes the entire driving dynamic in a very good way. I.e., LOTS of torque available way down low.

I managed to get 817km/507miles with a remaining range of ~70 km/40miles, this is with a full/top-up tank, out of that ~500km/310 miles was hwy, the rest in the city, that's 36mpg, as per onboard comp and manually calculated, not bad for 2.0 6MT at hwy speeds 70-75 miles/hr, but I wish the tank could be a bit larger, like last 9th gen

Going from our former car (a '13 VW Passat diesel) with its 18 gallon tank and 7-800 mile range, I was prepared to be bothered by our new Honda. But it's all good. We still have an estimated range of 425-450 miles even on this 14 gal. tank, and it turns out we want to stop way before the car starts noodling at us to "Find gas station now!"

I just traded in my 2014 LX 2.4 liter manual trans for a 2019 1.5T with the CVT. After putting 600 miles on it, just about everything is way better, more refined. Much less wind noise. Much more low end torque. Better handling. Way better stock stereo. The one on the 2014 LX was the worst I've ever had in a car. Just a real joy to drive, this 2019. Sport mode is a lot of fun. Visibility is just fine. Bright white LED lights, and warmer / yellowish high beams. My knee doesn't hit the side. The 'brake hold' feature in stop and go traffic is great. No regrets whatsoever getting the new car.

A few minor things: when I pull the visor down to block the sun, it blocks part of the rearview mirror. And there's been a few light rattles coming from the dash. I turned the fan on high and switched the flow around from all the vents, and that seemed to temporarily fix it. Then the position of the rattle changed, so I think it might be coming from somewhere inside the HVAC system. The rattle comes and goes, so not a real problem I guess. One other thing: when I have my iphone plugged into the USB port, and I have apple maps going, if I listen to the AM/FM radio, it won't speak directions. I have to hit the media button for it to speak directions. So I can listen to music through my phone, and it will interrupt the music to speak directions, but switching to the radio kills it. So that is the worst thing so far. I wish carplay was available as a standalone upgrade, but who knows if that would be any better.

I’ve owned a different car in between the models you described but I can say the new model is better in every way.
The two things that drove me to trade the 2013 model was
1) lack of power from the base four cylinder. I have a lead foot unfortunately.
2) plain interior that was nice but not impressive.

I stepped up to a 2.0 touring and it is worlds apart in terms of power delivery and drives and feels much like a true luxury car costing much more.
I don’t know your driving style but having the extra power of the 2.0 is nice and you may grow to love the car even more by having the additional features of the upper level model. I always try to buy something that is a great value but also contains the features that I know will prevent me from having any regrets leading to an early trade.

We leased a 2015 LX Gen9 and recently upgraded to a 2019 LX, as others have said the Gen10 is better in everyway. The 1.5 turbo suits the CVT transmission where as the 2.4 normally aspirated engine felt breathless at times.

The new LX represents the best value it's loaded with features, that would be options on previous generations of Accords.

I did read about the gas smell on the dip stick that the CRV owners had, and actually smelt the dip stick of our LX before finalizing the deal. It's been a little of a month since we picked up the LX and no gas smell,... so fingers and toes crossed.

This car is a blast to drive and the best value on the road.

I made (2) 180-mile trips yesterday from Southern Michigan to Northern Michigan and back. 1/3rd of the trip was 55mph with 6 or 7 stop lights, and 2/3rd of the trip was 70mph freeway. It rained part of the time. Average MPG from the time I started the vehicle till the end of the trip - 45.6 I'm not sure how that can be accurate. I reset the trip right when I started to car, so it started from scratch.

On the highway at 70 mph is when the lane assist really shines. It flashed at me "steering required" but it was steering for me, so I didn't need to do anything except keep my hands weight on the steering wheel.

One thing I noticed is that the seat runs "warm" compared to my 2014 LX. The heat is getting trapped between my butt and the seat in the 2019, whereas with the 2014 that heat just dissipated through the seat somehow and it felt cooler. I ordered some Coverking spacer mesh seat covers from Carid, hoping those will provide a little airflow somehow.

New car = new car payment.

There isn’t substantially MORE in the 10th gen (for me) to upgrade at this point.
What? Try again.

2 new engine and transmission combinations, Honda Sensing, CarPlay, LED headlights/foglights to name a few things. I'm not sure how you can qualify that as not substantial.

You must have missed the “for me” part of my post.

To clarify further...

I purchased my 2017 EX-L 6-6 coupe without the nanny safety bits on purpose. I have CarPlay, LED fogs and DRL’s and absolutely love the V6.

For those contemplating an upgrade from an LX, EX or Sport, there may be enough to warrant the purchase.

FOR ME, there isn’t enough but YMMV....
