I drove my 01 accord coupe today till it was very low on gas. I know this because I put in 15.6 gallons today. The gas gauge was below E and the low fuel light never came on. Does anyone know how to get the damn light to come back on when it is supposed to?

I think the light may be burnt out?

either the light is out, there's a short in the wiring, or that part of the fuel gauge sending unit isn't working. i've seen other people with this problem and the answer is either live with it or replace the sending unit in the tank. if you really want to know how to test that circuit i can post the diagram in my manual

the other day the light came back on once while i was sitting at idle waiting for someone to come out of their house. This is the only time since that i have seen the light come on. I disconnected the battery to reset the ecu. I will write back to see if that worked. If anyone has any idea how to fix this please hit me up.

well, here's how to test it......:dunno:

If it does end up being a faulty sensor, then you'd have to drop the gas tank to replace it. This happened on my Integra. The dealer wanted quite a bit to do the work, so I ended up just using the gauge. I figured that I didn't need a light to tell me that I was low on gas... the needle pointing to "E" pretty much sums it up.

SOME are accessible through the trunk. I'll see about posting instructions tomorrow.... the site is being a bit flaky tonight!
