I know, this has been covered many times and, yes, I did search. However, I cannot reset my maint req'd light according to the instructions found in the forums here or in the owners manual. Any suggestions? However, I'm not ruling out that I'm an idiot and that I've done it wrong... :dunno:

More info

Sorry about that. It's a 2004 Accord EXL 4 cyl. With ignition off, I've tried holding the button, turning the key to position II, continue to hold button for 10 seconds (after light quits flashing), turn key to 0 position, release button, remove key. This is basically what it says in the owners manual, but the instructions in another thread are a little more detailed, such as the above. However, for some reason, my light won't reset.

Thanks

Uh, your problem is that it's to the "I" position, NOT the "II" position..........

Basically it's the first click where only the radio comes on, no other lights on the instrument panel should light up.

I can confirm this since I just did it now.

But I won't call you an idiot! :)

I stand corrected, it's suppose to be II, I must have resetted a week or two ago without realizing it, and thought I just resetted in "I" position.....

So I guess I'm the idiot! :)

Were you doing this with the headlights or parking lights on? Apparently (for whatever stupid reason), the resetting won't work unless the lights are in the off position.

The manual's instructions aren't clear. You're not supposed to continuously hold the button. I think this is the procedure I used . . .

Both hands up above your head for now. :D Turn the key to II. Tap the odo/reset button until the oil% reading is in the display. Now press and hold the button until it starts to flash. When it flashes, RELEASE the button. Quickly push and hold a 2nd time until it resets to 0%.

The instructions make it sound like you have to push and hold it continuously when in reality you're hitting it a few times.

^ There's an oil % display?? I never knew that! I also have an '04 and holding it continuously while turning to II has always worked for me, but I do (as noted above) have to make sure the headlights are off.

NO, he is incorrect! There is no oil % display on the 2004. That came later.

Headlights must be off!!!

Yes, the lights have to be off. Kinda silly, but it worked! Thanks to everyone for their help. You'd think that would be important enough to state so in the owners manual, but what do I know, I'm only an owner... :dunno:

Thanks again!

I'd bet they didn't even know it themselves (meaning Honda)!

Mea culpa . . . oil% indicator came with the full blown Maint Minder System in 2006. Didn't catch that it was an 04.

Service Code

I need some help. I have a 2006 Accord EX-L. My service code recently came on. It showed the following (A1 15% Oil life). I have since changed the oil, but I do not have the directions to reset the code. Can you assist?

See my post above . . . #8.

HA! I was seeing into the future! I didn't want to admit I had the power . . .

:blah: :D

I don't know how personally, but do you have the owners manual?

It's in there, along with that you're supposed to do for the A1 service.
