I bought a 2015 EX-L V6 sedan in May of 2022. When I got it, it had just over 70k miles, and I just hit 80k this week. I’m trying to get an idea of a typical maintenance schedule for things like transmission fluid, coolant, brake fluid, plugs, belts, etc.

I guess I had always assumed that there was a chart in the back of the owners manual telling which intervals to do these things, but there isn’t. The car didn’t come with much in the way of maintenance records, though the CarFax report showed all instances of maintenance.. sometimes it said exactly what work was done, and others it simply said “vehicle serviced”. I called both dealers it was serviced at and they were able to call up records from the past year only and there hasn’t been any record of any regular maintenance besides oil changes, tire rotations, and air filters.

Does anyone happen to know the typical recommended intervals? Thanks!

The real immediate issue you have to address is whether or not the Timing Belt service has been done already or not. I am also the owner of a 2015 EXL-V6. We have similar miles on ours. Honda does want the timing belt done at 7 years or 100,000 miles (whichever comes first). As part of that service, they will change the water pump, the coolant, the tensioner, and likely the drive belt. I just had mine done last month (at 8 years, as my mechanic from years ago, told me he wouldn't do it at 7 years, he did recommend it at 8 though).
Since you will have done the coolant (which is usually done at 100K, you will just need to do the spark plugs at 100k). Everything on your car that is needed will come up on the maintenance minder other than the timing belt service. I'd just make sure the transmission fluid has been changed at least once or twice since new (I've done mine 4x which is overkill), and the filters look good.

Brake fluid needs to be flushed every 3 years too. If the brake fluid is darkish - I'd change that out. The reality, is just make sure the timing belt gets done and to understand the maintenance minder codes (see attachment)

There is no Honda Maintenance Schedule in the traditional sense. You're supposed to just do it when the codes come up on the Maintenance Minder. This allows for variability depending on driving style and habits.

Try putting the VIN into Honda's MyGarage and see if that offers any more details about dealer maintenance history.

At this current stage, even if the timing belt hasn't been done (I'd wager it hasn't), I wouldn't worry about it immediately. Just get it done soon. I got an 11 year old V6 and I waited nearly a year to do it.

with one caveat - if you live in an extreme weather area - or do lots of short trips, it is more urgent. I'm sure Honda sets the timing belt change interval to be sure 99% of folks who listen to their recommendations won't have a problem. Going to 10 years or 120K miles probably will reduce it to 97%. I have read at least one thread were someone had premature timing belt breakage.

If it was so urgent, Honda would still have a time interval for it. But they don't, they just say when the Maintenance Minder says to do it, and on these models the Maintenance Minder does not track time. I live in a pretty extreme weather area. My Odyssey was 13 years and 90k on the factory belt. My Accord was over 11 years and 30k on the factory belt.

I've never read it with a factory belt, except in cases of a failed tensioner, which is something that happens. But a failed tensioner will give you plenty of warning before it goes completely so that's really on the owner.

For one thing, don't trust MM, maintenance minder. I've seen it skip all kind of normal maintenance, like the AT fluid. If that's never been changed, do a 3x drain & fill. (Use the search feature here on DA to learn more) Nor would I pass on the timing belt kit, and use only the Aisin kit. Plugs and coils around 90k miles.

Great reminder on the coils, needed that.
