I havent really posted in a while....My car was stolen and I was hoping it would be recovered before i posted about it. It has been a month now. The car was never recovered and the insurance company totaled it out. I got $30,000 for the car through the insurance. They paid me approx $26,000 for the car stock value with 6,000 miles on it for an 08 EXL coupe 6spd. The other $4000 was for my accesories (the ones i had covered). I owed about $25,000 on the car. In the end I guess everything happens for a reason. I had been wanting to get out of the Accord anyways because my family didnt like the car. My kids hated riding in the back seat and my wife didnt want to drive it and didn't want to risk it getting scratched or damaged while she was driving it. I bought a new 08 odyssey EXL for my wife now and I took her 07 pilot from her for myself. The odyssey is a really nice van though and I got a great deal on it being that it was a new 08. I paid $25,000 for the odyssey and it has everything the accord had and then some. Now it is more practical for my family we have 2 good family vehicles that we can interchange between each other as needed. The Accord just ended up sitting in the garage looking pretty most of the time because we would take my wifes car instead of the accord to avoid it getting scratched or broken into while we were out. I kind of like not having to worry so much about the car anymore. I ended up not doing to bad with the insurance. I really thought I was going to get screwed by my insurance company, but in the end I think they were very fair with me and am relieved to be out the Accord and to not have taken too much of a loss. I had tried to sell the car at 1 point for $30,000 couldnt get it and then changed my mind and decided to keep the car. I really enjoyed being part of this forum and just wanted to thank everyone for your help and support with my mods. I got alot of info thorugh here and tried to contribute some info as well. I will still pop in from time to time. I still miss my baby!

R.I.P. wherever you are baby!

well that sucks... i feel your pain cuz I've had a car stolen before, but like you said, everything happens for a reason, and it looks like it worked out better for your family situation.

Honestly they did me a favor.....I was a little pissed at first, but I got over it real quick once the new odyssey came into the family. Im done with flashy hooked up cars. no more for me. This is the first car I have ever had stolen from me. I have had MANY hooked up rides. They caught me slipping. The car got a flat on US27 for those of you that dont know it, it is a lonely dark road at 6am in the morning. I didnt have a jack (i had taken it out because of the system). I called my wife to bring the jack and she couldnt find it. She came out to pick me up. i asked her to stay with the car while i went home to find the jack to put the spare on. She was like "screw that". I had just woke her up out of bed and she just had a robe on. I begged her to stay with the car and was even going to leave her with my glock. She wasnt having it. So we rushed home to find the jack. I was gone 30 minutes. When i got back all that was left was the spare tire I had left on the side of the road. They had to have towed it. It was on the floor with the flat and the 2.5 inch drop. Cops never found it! I have been reluctant to talk about it until now.

Wow!!
That really opens my eyes. I thought that newer Hondas & Acuras were hard(er) to steal because of the security system and Honda putting the VIN# on most of the body pannels.

I'm sorry for the loss man.

ouch that sux man...u should have sold me those wheels after all :D....well glad u are happy with your new purchase

any car can be towed!

Wow! Ya know when I first came to this forum I remember you talking about how quickly you thought the car might get stolen because of the way things are in Miami, and I always thought that maybe you were exaggerating. I see now that you were not kidding. I've always said that you have the most bad-ass ride on this forum, but it sounds like you're handling it ok. I really like the Odessy too, and here they are pretty reliable vans. That is going to be our next automobile when the Mrs. and I start having kids.

Again I'm sorry for your loss...I know you dumped a shit load of money into that car, but like you said, maybe it was for the better.

Take care J!

Thanks for the support guys....Its been a pleasure to be a part of your community. Now I wonder if I can get 26's to fit on my Pilot.

Lol....Just Kidding!

anything is possible sir :) sorry about the loss. car looked great when you had it. congrats on the odyssey though. great vans. just turbo it and it'll be just as fun lol

For over a year, I wished my TL had been stolen and no luck.

Sorry to hear about the loss, but it looks like you came out without too many bruises. At least you were able to find a good van to replace the car.

when i got the honda insurance went up and they told me its because hondas have one of the highest auto theft rate

now i just need them to steal mine.. hmm maybe i take a trip to US27 lol
My insurance only went up about $25.00 when I got the Honda. Why do you want it stolen? Are you not happy with the car?

If my car got stolen I would be mad not because of the car itself, but because I have one more payment to make on it.

sucks for the car, but glad it worked out for you.
my friend had her accord stolen last year in Orlando.
But oddly enough, when I bought mine last year my insurance went down, despite the Accord being a more expensive and more stolen car than a Pontiac Grand Prix

Best of luck to you!

Back in the 80's when I was working in NYC (driving in from Yonkers) I saw a guy with a brand new 911 (didn't even have plates yet) with a flat on the side of the expressway. Guess he didn't want to change the flat himself being in a 3 piece suit. Anyway a few hrs later driving back to Yonkers I noticed the 911 up on blocks & totally stripped (wheels, interior, engine, doors, & hood). Couldn't believe it with the amount of traffic constantly passing by.

I still have the same insurance company I just renewed the policy on my 3 vehicles. My insurance actually went down now without the Accord on it. I am a preferred customer with Geico having not had any problems or claims in the years I have been with them. I am very satisfied with how they handled me and would reccomend them to anyone. They gave me way more for the car without the accesories then the dealers would do with the accesories on a trade when I had looked into it a couple of months back. I think one dealer offered me 23k and another one offered 21k with the mods. Geico gave me 26k for the car stock value plus an additional 4k for the accesories. I walked with 5k in my pocket. I didnt even need my gap insurance and Im going to get a refund on that too from the dealer. In the end I will probably end up with 31k or 32k total for my car after all refunds and credits and checks are recieved.
