I need to replace the front struts on my 2004 Accord EXL Sedan 4 cyl automatic...car has 180k on it...I would like to change the entire assembly springs and all..Should I purchase Honda or Monroe? Also do you have the part numbers for the complete front assembly left and right ...thanks everyone...

A while back, my mechanic suggested the Monroe front strut capsules when my driver front side was leaking,. I really regret it now. There is only 1 part # for Monroe, so for the 4 cyl, the spring rate is more correct for the 6 cyl than the 4. Bouncy and raised the front another inch from stock.
I want to get rid of them and go back to OEM. I made a poor choice and I regret it.

It was during the Polar Vortex. Things were a little hazy.
Now I am stuck wondering why 1 R.F. 4cyl 5mt Honda Strut 51601-SDA-A22 is $310.54! When the other Honda struts are $150.
Why twice the price just for the 4cyl manual R.F.?

Strut/spring Replacement - OEM vs Monroe Quick Struts

The ride has been noticeably rougher and bouncier lately. Figure it's time to replace the stut/spring assemblies. Monroe quick struts are almost half the cost as Honda OEM parts (bernardi parts), but reviews seem to be divided between positive and negative for the Monroes (quality control issues, car sitting higher, etc.). Should I stick with Honda OEM parts for my car or will the Monroe quick struts be sufficient?

Go with KYB.

Im running Koni yellows on stock springs.

Freaking amazing.
Running Koni FSDs on stock springs and they're amazing too! OP, don't buy Monroe. They've been making sh___y struts since 1916.

Ok so Monroe’s are out!

A complete set of OEMs will run me close to $1,000. If I’m keeping it for the long haul, will the KYBs get me there? I read a review that they raised the front end some. Is that a big deal?

what's the part # of the complete oem strut? If I buy them and have an independent mechanic swap them out how much will it cost for the labor?

Shouldn't you be asking the independent mechanic who will be doing the work instead of people on a forum who don't know what mechanic you'll be using and what the mechanic's labor rate is?

Swapping out the front strut assembly is a pretty quick job, unless you live in a high corrosion area and they are welded in by rust and corrosion, then there might need to be some generous use of a torch and a lot of swings with a big hammer. I would think most shops could do both fronts in an hour, so whatever they charge per hour is going to be pretty close.

I just got some generic ones myself on the front and it's 1.5 in higher than the back. Is OEM the only way to go to keep the same height? I'm trying to bring 2004 Blue Sapphire V6EX 6MT coupe back up to speed so don't want it looking like a 4x4.

New springs will be higher than old springs, OEM is no different. Either replace strut assemblies at 4 wheels or replace the struts only and keeping the old springs. In your case, I'd replace the rear with the same generic ones to bring up the rear.
