What nifty thing did you learn about your Accord did you find out AFTER you got it??

I didn't know about the trip computer until on the way home. (The Pilot's Nav doesn't have that)

I also didn't know that the windows can go down with using the remote. A warm day shopping..... hit the remote & roll down windows, then hit the trunk opener. By the time the trunk is loaded, the car is cooled off. Start, roll up the windows....go! Now we'll see if I remember to NOT open the windows when it starts raining!

The auto 4-window roll down was the nicest unknown! (You can also activate it with the key in door lock, just like the VW commercial!).

Discovering that the sound system is actually pretty good once you replce the speakers was a big plus. (You know the OEM speakers are cheap when Honda only charges $9.00 for them!)

It also loks like there are wasy to tap into the sound system with auxillary devices, (like a portable MP3 player or aftermarket GPS for us non Navi owners). Check out the Hands free cell phone schematics. Seems there some tap in areas on the top of the radio unit. Wish I new more about them and their intended functions.

Oh yeah and finally figuring out what that little green light was for on the dash! (Headlights On indicator ).

You can also roll the windows up using the key in the door...

I particularly enjoyed the plug in the center console that you can use for your cell phone... didn't know that was in there when I bought it.

the dent in my truck lol!!!... besides that:

1- smart wipers.. i was driving along in the rain, you know the type when its not to heavy yet not too light... so i used the intermittent feature. I came to a stop at a light and the wipers stopped... what!!! then i started driving and they kicked in again.. really nice to have ( i live on the west coast canada, rainforest area).

2. auto off and on headlights. Forgot to turn them off, after few minutes they went off... jump back in the car and everything turns back on... no need to touch the on/off headlight switch :D

3. stereo sounded better then I thought;

4 the horn : its not that rinky dinky sounding type like some foreign cars::: its actually substantial::

hmmmm there is more; cant think right now:rolleyes:

The horn is funny here because the Accord (little girl) has the BIG "voice" & the Pilot (big girl) has the little "voice".

Trip computer?? what does yours do? isnt it just the a and b mileage meters... when you say trip computer i am thinking one that tells you distance to empty, average mileage etc... oh but i think you have navi right...?

those w/o navi have the simple trip mileage... i wish they had a real trip computer

meaccord, yep, it's a Navi! The trip computer does do the adveraging (which goes down when I drive) & distance on the tank. It even has a bar graph for "seeing" your adverage at that moment. It has said 50, but not when I'm the one behind the wheel. It's been one of those, "I wish the Pilot had one..." things on MY car. The Pilot's system is from'01 data, but they're selling the upgrade anytime now! For mere $185:eek:

I forgot.... I didn't know the dash came alive when you open the door. It's nice because the garage is kind of dark until the door is opened & I have no real pattern for what order I do what in when leaving. As long as the door is open when I move out, I'm OK!

here's another real neat thing... i think its a real touch of class by honda!!

Just in front of the sunglass holder on ceiling. There is a tiny light and what i discovered to be a air vent!

The little light shines ever so lightly onto the center console area ie the shifter/ cup holder area... it helps to luminate it during the night.. I was looking up and noticed it .. thought what is that?? very nice touch.. I didnt realize what the vent was until i stuck my hand under it and felt the air.. i am guessing it keeps the rear view mirrior defrosted?? not sure..

Do the coupes have the same thing??

:D :

I thought that thing was the mic for the Navi system? I'll have to put my hand up there and see.

I agree - the pin light is very nice.

meaccord.
I'd noticed the tiny light, but not any air coming out. I'll have to check that out when I can get back in her tonight. It seems like the whole thing lights up in some way or another! When the lights where all the gauges are comes on it's like she saying "mornin' ":) "Let's go!"

feferic,
I didn't know WHERE the little mic was. Since you mentioned it, I had to look it up & you're right! It's right up there on the ceiling!

See this forum can be so educational!!:D

Another ‘surprise’ was the up/down switch for the windows. If you have the windows unlocked, all the window switches light up with a green ‘bar’. If you lock the windows, the bar goes away. Nice feature.

Hadn't noticed that one! Kewl!!:D

i like how when you have the intermittent wiper setting all the way to low... when you speed it the wipers go faster and when you come to a stop they go slow again... i also like the little light next to the homelink that lights up on the shifter. and i LOVE how the windows go down using the keyless entry thing. people always stare at that hahaha

I've used the windows to let nearby people know the car isn't alone when they're too close.... especially kids. I don't want finger prints!! raff, I agree, it's a nifty feature!!

That's not an easy task!!!

I found out that if you're too quick opening the door after unlocking it by remote, the chime for the lights goes on. Ok, so I don't NEED to use the remote when I'm that close, but I really don't want those little scratches I've seen by the keyhole/handle area. :sorry:

I've noticed the same thing - i wonder if this is a programming error that was corrected on the 04s?

No worries about being to close, I don't think I've actually put my key into the lock since I've owned it -- well, except to see if I could really roll up all the windows at the same time.

I think the '04's do it too. I know of one that was torn completely apart. Doors, dash.... to find why the "chime" was going off. Turns out it's normal!

I thought it chimed to tell me that I only unlocked the drivers door after when last time I'd unlocked them all. Hey, it would've been a neat feature! But no it's just if you open the door while the marker lights are still flashing it chimes.

You DO need to put that key in the door every few thousand miles. We didn't in the Pilot or the '02 Accord & at about 10K the alarm would set itself without telling it to. It happened in the Accord & I KNEW I didn't lock the thing! Then it happened to my husband. He investigated. Turns out it's a preventable problem by simply using the keylock. I guess everything needs exercise!! So with an oil change use the key lock. Simple. :)
