Anyone know anything about the "notto" hid kits that carid.com sells?

I am interested but I want a reliable kit that will suit my canadian climate and have everything I need but I dont know much about hids.

Hey man, if your looking for a good set of HIDs I would go with Philips HID Conversion kit. They offer 35w 4300k and 6000k ( http://www.philipsxenon.com/ ). They have a warranty and is the same tech used by BMW and Mercedes. Also the defective rate is said to be 1 in 100,000. This product is US DOT approved, and with that approval our Canadian gov't will have approved it for use as well, through the TSB.

I am in SSK and will be picking up a set of these for my car when I receive it in April.

Hope this is useful info.

there's also some kits in the sponsors corner.

prices ranging from $40-$200. A lot of people like XenonDepot's kits (they have philips bulbs as well). there are also kits from DiodeDynamics, DDM, and various other sites.

btw, if you have a sedan, you should consider retrofitting your headlights with projectors, to reduce glare, and give better visibility. im getting mine done soon :)

i haven't heard of notto, but then again, i haven't heard of too many "brands". it does have everything you need, and just for safety sake, you should get the relay harness for extra-protection.

and if you order from XD, and use these forums coupon, you get (2) relays for even more paranoia-prevention. (volt kit is around $100, xtreme would be upper $100s)

For what it's worth I have the DDM kit for 3.5 years without any issues, however just today the driver's side stopped working but I have not the chance to isolate to either ballast or capsule.

That site is suspicious. It doesn't like like genuine Philips bulb or ballast. If you look up the phone number, it gives you many companies.

OP stay away from new HID kits that nobody has ever heard of or tried. If you want genuine OEM ballast that auto manufactures use, theretrofitsource.com has them. However they are expensive. I have Morimoto Ballast and Bulb and I love them. I also heard good stuff about XenonDepot.

Also think about retrofitting because if you put HID in stock headlight it will throw light everywhere, and blind other drivers, and give you less light down the road.

So no one has or knows anything about notto?
Nope, and personally I wouldn't want to experiment with my own money to find out if they are good, or not, unless you are feeling very advanturious.

BTW, isolated my HID failure to the ballast/igniter, now we'll see how the customer service aspect of DDM or the Canadian dealer I bought from in supporting the lifetime warranty I bought with this kit 3.5 years ago.

i got mtec ones

car id and notto hid kits

hey after looking up several different hid kits I ended up buying the notto HID kit with a pair of projector headlights. I installed them early Jan and no problems whatsoever. The shipping took a little bit but the overall experience with car ID was good.
The HID kit came through USPS and the headlights were delivered by UPS. (Great packing btw)

The kit I got was 5000k for my low beams. I'll post pics soon.
