I'm quite new to the forum and have never owned a Honda before this one. I've done alot of reading on this forum and am loving the info and enjoy learning about my new car. I especially like the threads about what you like about your Accord, or dislike. I just finished reading a thread where someone goes on about why bother modding an i4? I've got an i4 2011 coupe. I dont street race and I find the power to be enough. I bought the car for it's fantastic looks and feel. I decided on the i4 for a few reasons...a little lighter, better fuel economy, less complicated that the v6.

I've been beside some fast cars at lights and so far nobody takes off before me, it's like they're scared because the car just looks fast. That's enough for me. So far there's nothing about the car I dont like. At age 54 I've been told by my kids that it's too cool for me, or I'm too old for a car like this and I just laugh.

I wouldnt have bought a sedan, I wanted to get a coupe of some sort and the Accord IMO is the best looking one around. In my younger days a hot looking car was always a 2 door. A 4 door was a family car. Nothing against you guys with sedans but I dont haul kids anymore and wanted something sporty looking and a coupe is the best way to get that.

Two of my past cars were a 67 Cougar and a 72 Duster, both 2 door cars. After that came kids, etc. and a string of sedans, vans, and otherwise family type cars so it's nice to get back into a coupe!

I dont plan to do any mods, I like it the way it is....maybe a grill someday but other than that I'll keep it stock. It is such a great car to drive and the looks are classy, sophisticated, and clean. It's a style for any age group. The audio system is fantastic, by far the best stock system I've ever had. I do believe I have the only blue gen 8 coupe in this city so it's a very unique car and gets alot of looks.

Thanks to all the members here for such a wealth of information. I hope everyone is lovin their Accords as much as I do!

Maybe nobody has taken off before you because they are going about their business and have no intent on racing. You'd be surprised how many people on the road are actually on their way from point A to B.

Go to the track if you want to see who is scared of your car.

"I've been beside some fast cars at lights and so far nobody takes off before me"

I shake my head when I see someone driving a 300+ HP car like a grandma. Like having a supermodel in your bedroom and deciding to play table tennis instead of going to bed (to paraphrase Jeremy Clarkson).

I recall launching off a light faster than a faster car. Wasn't racing him, just happened to start faster. He was having none of that though and promptly walked my like a dog. I laughed.

Glad you like your Accord, pw5599.

I find the Accord to have the perfect balance of practicality and sportiness. It's a great commuter car but has just enough style to it. I love my sedan because I'm usually driving 2 or more people around and I don't want to bother pushing the seat forward to let someone in. Plus I don't find the coupe to be very good looking. The front is great, but the back leaves so much to be desired. Like they spent all of their time on designing the front and then quickly slapped together the rear. The 2013 coupes improved a little bit but the rear is still rather boring.

When it comes to 4 cylinder sedans available in a manual, your options are limited:

Altima - hated how you needed to go up to the V6 SE to get the nice options and better styling
Camry - I'm not a grandpa
A4 - Don't trust the reliability of turbos
Sentra - not enough power/options
Civic - not enough power/options and Si is too small and a theft magnet
Mazda3 - hate the styling, hatch is OK but I don't like that they're owned by Ford
Domestic - I'm yet to own anything domestic. I don't trust their reliability and I feel they use cheaper and inferior parts

So the Accord was the best fit for me. Manuals are a dying breed so I'm going to enjoy this one while it lasts, could be the last manual I ever own.

Don't listen to the smarta$$es, I know what you mean. I'm 66 and just got a '12 coupe and I love it for a daily driver. Has lots of pep for a 4 cyl too. I owned muscle cars when they were new ['69 Chevelle 396 and a '70 Plymouth GTX 440 6-pack]. I also have a modern one-a '04 GTO that's as fast or faster than either of the former.

I bought the Honda mainly on looks alone[plus the reputation], having never owned anything but GM for the past 30 years. I think the Accord coupe is the best looking 2 door around if you throw out the exotics. I also agree with your remarks on the 2 door. The Dodge Charger looks like crap with those 4 doors. The Challenger looks great.

He likes his car so why the hard time? Zero to sixty no matter how fastly achieved is not racing? :dunno:

Thanks for the comments and I've been around forums forever so used to the negative comments people make. But everyone is entitled to their say. Nice to see some older guys here too! I do believe we're far out numbered here.

As far as the coupe goes after noticing a few nice coupes around in the past year or so such as the Altima, Genesis, Infinity I finally noticed some Accords and decided that was the one for me. I simply love the design and it looks like a more mature, refined design...just right for an older guy! As for racing, those days are long over for me. Maturity does usher in a good degree of common sense so hang in there young guys, it'll come. And never put down an old guy because in life there's only 2 choices....you get old...or you dont. You're a lucky person if you achieve a ripe old age.

I live in a Canadian prairie city that's full of SUVs, minivans, and pickup trucks but now that spring is here I've been noticing a few nice coupes. Been seeing several Infinitiy and Genesis. The Accord coupes I've seen are usually black or white but did see a red one yesterday. Also far too many black, white, silver, beige, grey vehicles. I like a car of colour which is why I bought blue! And it's easy to find in a parking lot full of bland coloured vehicles.

After driving family type cars for the past 30 years I'm not used to the looks I'm getting in this. Probably some are saying whats that old guy driving that for?...or look at the old guy driving his kid's car! This is my only car so it's my dd, a point A to B but now with alot more fun. I drive every day through crazy rush hour traffic and it's been about 25 years since I've had any sort of accident or other violation. I got my one and only speeding ticket 25 years ago.

The i4 is perfect for me. It'll get me up to highway speed quick enough. I think any more HP in a FWD is crazy and dangerous. When and if I ever want more HP it'll be in a RWD car.

I hope I dont get any problems with the car anytime soon but if I do I'll be coming here for answers. Forums are always the best place for that. Have fun guys and keep the negativity down. Enjoy life and live and let live. Now I'm going for a drive.
