I’m trying to find an online source for the cabin and engine AIR filters. I seem to be drawing a blank. I could just get them from o’reilly’s I guess but I was hoping for the OEM ones that dealer would put in but not pay 200 bucks for them

Why OEM for the cabin filter? Just go to the local car parts place and get theirs. It's not like it's going to rob your car of 10 hp.

No good reason but if theres only a few bucks difference I’ll go with the OEM which is probably just a rebranded version of the same thing for one of the major filter manufacturers.

I got a washable cabin filter on ebay for about the same price as OEM. I noticed mine got dirty pretty quick this summer between pollen and road construction. I looked at the engine filter at the time and it was still very clean.

I usually go to eBay. As long as you make sure you are getting the OEM filter, and it shows a picture of the real Honda part, you are OK. You do have to avoid ads that say, "compatible with", or "fits", etc., if you really want the OEM parts. It helps the search process if you use the Honda part number, rather than just search by vehicle.

I only use eBay vendors that have free shipping. Most of the online discount parts shops will charge something for shipping.

Amazon is fine also, esp. if you have Prime (2-day free shipping). But you will probably still pay sales tax, whereas most out-of-state eBay vendors won't charge sales tax.

When putting the new filter in, MAKE SURE the "AIR FLOW" is facing towards you and arrows are down.

part of loving your car so that it lives a nice, long life, is to regularly check the engine air and cabin air filters a couple of times a year with moderate driving. Don't wait on maintenance minders for this. Open up the filters and get a good idea of how long they take to get dirty, depending on your location and driving habits. I would not waste good money on OEM parts for these items. My $0.02 ;)

But if the filter is clean, does that mean there isn't much dirt in the environment, or that some cheapo filter isn't good enough to catch all the dirt that really is there?

Recently changed both my cabin and engine air filter at ~32k miles. Both were fairly gross (cabin being worse).

Stopped by an advance auto parts and picked up both - purolator branded ones i think.

Cabin air filter was like ~$19 i think (vs 30+ at the dealer?) - fit fine and design seemed to have about the same amount of filter element.

Engine air filter did not fit - our hybrids have a pretty wierd / tiny air filter. Picked one up at the dealer for about $20 and threw it in. Parts store said they could order the correct one in ~5-7 days and cost more than the dealer did (weird).

If you are looking for OEM parts i recommend googling OEM honda parts. Lots of results come up with handy tools to break down vehicle / trim / sub system and then there are usually exploded diagrams with parts listed to find what you need.

Quick results:

I recommend looking through a few for the parts you need as the prices on these sites vary some - find the best deal you can. I broke the foglight trim plastic on my old Mazda after hitting a piece of tire on the highway and finding those 2 pieces online vs going to the dealer saved me ~$100 and I probably got them faster than the dealer would have ordered them.
