I recently(as in 3 days ago) put new rubber on my Accord. When I bought it Friday it had 2 pretty used GY Eagles on the fronts and something called Superguards on the rear.

So I decided to put new rubber on this past Sunday and had GY Assurance Comforttred 91V tires installed. Suffice to say, I don't like these tires at all. The ride became busier, road noise isn't that great and at highway speeds they have a vibe to them.

I'm going to check with Sullivan Tire and see if they have a policy similar to Town Fair Tire on trading tires in within 30 days for different set. I originally wanted the Michelin's but would have waited a few days to get them.

In any event, opinions on the Primacys? Will H or V give a smoother ride? My guess is the H

Thanks

I bought the Primacy MXV4 in May or so. I wanted to have "the best" mostly cuz i drive my 07 everyday and wanted something reliable. I am happy with them and dont have any complaints.

ive already put about 15k miles on them. i wouldnt hesitate buying again.

I put the Pilot Exalto's on mine (winter tires) and am very happy. Good winter traction. Michelin's cannot be beat for low noise and comfort. I have the H.

Like I said on your other post, do a search on this site as the MX's and tires in general have been discussed multiple times.

Thanks Carl, I missed your other post. Looks like most folks are going with the H vs the V

Now I just have to convince Sullivan Tire that an H is ok as they insist that since car cam with V, that is what I need

Well it sounds like if I want to be able to exchange the tires for the Primacy's I will have to go with the V rated tires. They won't exchange them for the H rated tires as that is not what Honda specs for.

So if I want the Primacy's it will be V rated or nothing. I guess they have to be better than the GY's that are on there now. They refused to budge on me wanting the H rated

Or will I get probably the same ride quality as I'm going from a V to a V?

Hello 2tango2. I have had Michelin Primacy MXV4 "V" rated tires on my 07 SE V6 for a little over two years now. It's funny, but my buying experience was the opposite from yours-retailer didn't want to sell me the "V" rated and kept trying to talk me into the "H" rated instead. However, I never tried the H-rated tires. I would assume that you would have a softer ride with the H rated, and possibly slightly better handling with the V-rated both due to a stffer sidewall. Some retailers insist on installing the same speed-rated tires as were OEM, like Costco and your local shop.Otherwise,I dont think you can go wrong with either one, just as long as they are both MXV4's. BTW: that specific model was in the top three across many different speed ratings in the latest Consumer Reports ratings of all-season tires, which says a lot about the basic desigin of the tire!

I will also give a good review for the MXV4. I suggested to a friend to put them on his Impala to replace two GY Integrity's and two Yoko Avid Touring-S. Very good tires, he's had them on for about 10k and they are still very quiet and didn't need any additional balancing as of now. Very smooth ride and they handle water well.

Kinda a bit pricier but it's like the old saying, "you get what you pay for".

On another note, man do Integrity's STINK!

Adding to the CU info above..............

1. After almost 60,000 miles (on H rated MXV4's), I have 6/32 left all around.
Also they were great in a southern CA storm last year......where I passed many freeway spinouts.......with emergency vehicles on scene...........

2. Bring money. As noted within this thread (you get what you pay for).

I had the V rated MX4V's put on Saturday morning. It has only been a few days but by all indications I made the right move going to the Michelins.

I'll give a more detailed review in a few days but the 1 thing that stands out is how smooth and quiet these tires are. they may give back a little bit of handling that the GY's had but it is a good tradeoff

The Primacy MXV4 is a grand touring tire that emphasizes comfort and treadwear. The Primacy MXM4 emphasizes performance, i.e. handling, with a little less comfort and tread wear. Both are excellent for their purposes. Both are a little pricey, but that is standard for Michelins. However the new Defender tire offers even better treadwear and comfort at the price of performance, while still providing very good all-season traction, so that's something to consider.

EDIT: I just noticed that you had already made your purchase. The MXV4s are very good tires, I'm sure that you will get years of enjoyment out of them. With the tires in question, there are no bad choices, in my opinion, only differences in emphasis. Too bad they are so expensive, but they tend to be durable as well, so that expense can be seen as amortized over the life of the tire.
