I just replaced my 2019 Touring Hybrid Accord with Michelin Defender 2. Immediately thereafter my mileage decreased dramatically--with each fillip I had about 509 miles to drive; now it's only about 430. Has anyone else had a similar experience? Does anyone know what the original tires were (I stupidly did not write it down). I have had them for less than two months and do not want to continue to drive the vehicle with the dramatically reduced fuel economy.

My original tires were Michelin Energy Savers as I recall. They had terrible wet traction. I replaced them with Michelin Crossclimate 2s and have less than a 2 mpg hit with them. I still can go about 520 miles on a tank of gas with them and they have great traction, are quiet, comfortable, and track perfectly.

Check tire pressure too. I don't think I've ever had a car come out of the tire shop with the right tire pressure.

I'm in the process of choosing new tires for my 2020 EX-L. Your choice of Michelin Crossclimate 2 is highly supported on a Reddit group I follow - Well regarded in bad weather as well!

I did the same thing as you did. I was averaging anywhere from 44 to 48 miles per gallon with the original tires. I went to the Michelin defender because my mechanic said it was a much better tire and it was less money than the original Honda tires, which did not have as good of attraction as the Michelin defenders do.
and now my mileage average is 31 miles to 33 miles per gallon. Devastating and I’m gonna try to wear these tires down because I’m on the road all the time and I’m gonna go back to the original tire and hope that it goes back to a better mileage
