P0087 OBD-II Trouble Code: Fuel Rail/System Pressure - Too Low.

Hi - I replaced the High Pressure Fuel Pump 4 months ago and it worked but now it is throwing out the same P0087 code. So i thought it maybe a faulty pump replaced it again and given the same symptoms. I also changed the throttle body just in case since the car has 160k miles. Wracking my brain on what else it could be?

Isn't the high pressure fuel pump cam driven in the 9th gen? Maybe your cam is worn. Did you use OEM parts?

You need to check the timing on the cam, if it skips a tooth the fuel pressure will show as too low.

9G Accords have two fuel pumps, low pressure in tank, and high pressure driven off camshaft.
Maybe the low pressure pump in the tank isn't supplying enough fuel to the high pressure pump?
Could be an injector is stuck open, thus causing low fuel pressure?

Thanks I thought about that but I changed the low pressure pump 4 months ago don't see any code for injector miss fire.

Check the timing marks, especially if you have a cam chain rattle at start up.

My Car is Honda Accord 2013, Sedan LX 4 cylinder engine. I usually get the P0087, especially when accelerating hard and sometimes the car stop running on the highway. I sometimes replace the car battery, because sometimes the battery would also be dead. I recently discovered that the cause of the P0087 in my car was the premium Octane Rating 93 fuel (gas) that I normally use in the Honda Accord. I erroneously believed premium grade fuel (gas) was better for the car. I switched to Regular grade (Octane Rating 87) gas and I have not had the problem of P0087 for 2 years. The car battery has also not given me problem for the 2 years since I switched to Regular Grade fuel. It pained me a lot that I have spent about $,4,000 extra money on premium fuel when the car actually needed regular fuel as stated in the Owner manual.

Hello, my Car is a 2015 Honda Accord exl 2.4 l, and I have been having trouble with the P0087 code as well. I replaced the high pressure fuel pump as well as the fuel pump itself, and the codes keep coming back. After replacing both of these parts, the car would be fine and all of the lights it had previously (check engine, fcw, ldw, power steering, traction control etc) would turn off. After getting on the highway is when the lights would all come back on and the car goes into limp mode, after accelerating. I’m really not sure what to do here as I just bought this car recently after a car wreck. All of the listed codes P0087 83-11 61-11 85-01 U0416-68 Any pointers would be greatly appreciated

I had a stall with P0087 plus other lights but I attributed all to a loose fuel cap strangely (read my post few weeks ago). I erased DTCs and all went away. I managed to use a scan tool to check fuel rail pressure (it was at 3500 kpa), and then ran an actuation test to check the high and low pressure fuel pumps and they all went well. You should at least check the rail pressure to see if in fact it is low. Also do an actuating test using a two way scan tool if you can get one.

Turned out my timing chain was off around 7 teeth, thankfully no valves were damaged. Just labor and parts 1500 total. Recommend if you have a rattle coming from the bay of your car. To check just pop the valve cover off and rotate the engine till its top dead. To check if it’s in time or not
