I was wondering if anyone has or has heard of steering wheel mounted paddle shifters for the 2006 or 7th gen's? I missed them from my BRZ. I was hoping someone could point me to a link if possible. Thanks again, btw i did search but came up with nothing for this year i saw some examples of it for the 9th gens

Ya, that will be a no go for this one.

Haha paddle shifters, while I've never had the opportunity to try them, I find the idea kind of silly. If you want to change gears on your own, get a manual. That's not what an automatic is for, lol.

But yeah, if your tranny fails, don't convert it to a manual. Get a different car, the risk is too high for the conversion, if you do a search here you'll find some members who tried it and failed terribly.

You had paddle shifters on a BRZ? Damm.
You are missing out on all the fun by not having a manual BRZ.
Toyota made a great car just by putting skinny little Prius tires on it.
You can drift with that car under the speed limit.

There is a member on v6p, nicepeta, that has paddle shifters on his accord. IIRC, he had to swap in the 3G TL transmission to get it to work. Lots of custom work and definitely not cheap but yes it is possible.

DA isn't really the place to ask questions like this though since installing sway bars is about as advanced as it gets around here modding wise.

Ah - I was going to say I remembered reading about a TL tranny swap involving paddles, good looking out Ike !!

i would've gotten the manual but sometimes it gets tiring, I'm not the most devout manual driver so i figured id get the auto since it had the paddles so i could have fun when i wanted but if i get tired i just stop shifting and it'll go back into auto. man that thing was insane in the winter lol the littlest bit of snow on the ground and id downshift it as much as it would let me and floor it, it handles quite well for what it is but i raced my dad while he was in my moms elantra and we just about tied...which is why I'm going to be taking over my dads car

Paddle shifters in a Honda is nothing like a true MT.

just gonna copy/pasta what i've said before since i'm finishing up on opening/taking pics of our OEM 6 Disc Changer:

Sports Auto Shifting, Paddle Shifting is really a joke

its a way for most people who want to drive manual and have the control and power of stick but don't want to learn how to drive one or don't want to because manual sucks in certain situations like Rush Hour Traffic

instead of investing the time and money to do this, you could buy performance parts that will far surpass just doing a Auto Shifting conversion"

is a Auto to manual transmission conversion possible?

I still don't understand the "but I sit in traffic" reasoning. Honda's have very soft clutch pedals. It gives you something to do as well. I find that people are just lazy when it comes to driving. Most people need full attention on exactly what is in front of them, and tunnel vision on where they have to go.

agreed 100%

depends on they city you're in too...i.e. when i lived in Downtown Los Angeles, loved my 2" Drop but couldn't stand all the small hills entering/exiting parking lots so raised it to stock

SoCal Rush Hour is brutal and seeing 6-8 lanes of bumper to bumper Traffic is terribly stressful and boring to most but having a Stick/Manual made it fun...but it was at times like this, sometimes i'd wish i had a Auto

i still <3 Manual but having lived in Manhattan, couldn't imagine going back in a Manual because i don't drink Energy Drinks and reaction time isn't as great. This is where Auto makes driving much easier

i see it from your point that if more people drove manual, we could get rid of a lotta accidents since you have to focus much more and we could eliminate 2 key demographics that cause a lotta accidents:

1. old people
2. young teenagers :D

well, some of you guys definitely haven't been on the 401 during rush hour, rarely do i get over 15kph and when i do its because I'm trying to keep myself from getting cut off by other drivers. I learnt how to drive manual before i knew how to properly drive and have nothing against it, its just that i can't get a manual because its a car thats going to be passed on in the family, like the accord to me, my dad can drive a stick fine but my sister and mom can't so theres no point in having manual cars that half the family can't drive.

I spent a few months in SF when I owned a fire chicken with a stick. Your guys' traffic stories are NOTHING.

As far as navigating the daily commute, there are several other factors at play than just being lazy. For example, size would likely be an issue for some. A 5'7" shrimp probably feels real comfortable getting that left foot in front on him, but that the 6'3" man would likely need to spread out a little and long periods could be PITA.

NorCals pretty awesome living and scenery wise too...most of the roads i traveled on were even nicer than SoCal but SF would have to be one of the toughest places to drive stick shift:

considered one of the toughest roads anywhere to drive:

couldn't imagine parking like this 24/7: :paranoid:
