No offical change schedule, some do as early as 60K, others @ 100K plus or wait until they start to use oil, others never. I change mine every 60K, cheap PM.Thanks for the video! How often is the PCV valve supposed to be changed?
60k miles. You can check it by shaking the valve and see if it rattles but really this part cost less than $25, you rather just change it.Thanks for the video! How often is the PCV valve supposed to be changed?
Yeah some cars are a PITA. Is those cases, you just change it out when you're doing another service that gives you access to the PCV valve. Say for example you take off the intake manifold for service and you see the PCV valve right there in your face, just change it out real quick before you put the intake manifold back on.I just hit 60k and am due for engine and cabin air filters. Might as well do the PCV at the same time. Good to see it was exactly where I thought it was and is easy to change. Much better than the 2.3L MZR engine in my old Mazda6 that had the PCV valve BEHIND the friggin' intake. That was an $1,100 dealer job for a $8 part. Or a DIY job with lots of cursing, scraped knuckles and almost guaranteed loss of vital small parts or other damage.
If the PCV valve is clogged it will not rattle but it may still be bad if the spring inside is worn out even though it still rattles. Can be one of those unknown.60k miles. I was making a spark plug video and found out that the spark plug requires a smaller socket than 16mm...weird because my odyssey and civic's spark plugs are 16mm while this new accord is probably 14mm. I need to get a deeper socket and I will post the video up.I'll be doing this along with plugs soon. I figure they are cheap and easy and 60-70k is a good time to do so.
Good advise to just do it, its a part that is often forgotten. I recommend you buy from the dealer and with the $25 price you noted I'd say you are as well. I do want to mention that many new style PCV valves do not make noise when you shake them. That's a little bit of a older style diagnosis. Did you hear yours when you shook it?60k miles. Its not loud but you can hear the valve shaking inside. When I changed my PCV valve on my odyssey, the old valve and new valve both were shaking BUT there is a very very small difference between the shaking noise. The new valve was shaking more easily then the old valve. Like KW2004Accord mentioned, the valve will still shake but the spring might be worn out.Good advise to just do it, its a part that is often forgotten. Here is the spark plug video: DIY: 9th Gen i4 Spark Plug Change (2013-2017)I'll be doing this along with plugs soon. I figure they are cheap and easy and 60-70k is a good time to do so.
Nice video... Just took mine out... swung it around, heard nothing.. Took it inside, rapped it on the counter and then I heard a rattle... Not shaking the long way, but rather... side to side, if that makes any sense...60k miles. I clean mine with MAF sensor cleaner.Nice video... Just took mine out... swung it around, heard nothing.. Took it inside, rapped it on the counter and then I heard a rattle... Not shaking the long way, but rather... side to side, if that makes any sense...
Can they be cleaned with gas or something?
Hey, would you be able to tell me where you bought it for that price? I called one of my local dealers and he said $50 (I think he was looking at the pcv tube, and not the valve), and then the closer dealer to me was clueless, got my VIN #, and then after 8 minutes of holding, tried to tell me that my 13 Accord 4 cylinder doesn't use one. That he located one for a V6, but not the 4 cyl. Then said that I should stop by so we can look at the pictures together. Yeah right, he wanted to try and persuade me to let them do the work.60k miles. Thanks, so the picture on Amazon is not that actual item right? I noticed in your video that it had the red part on it, like the OEM.I believe it was this one: https://www.amazon.com/Standard-Motor-Products-V384-Valve/dp/B001DCEX6G/
It should work. The OEM and this aftermarket valve looks the same. Thanks, so the picture on Amazon is not that actual item right? I noticed in your video that it had the red part on it, like the OEM.
Yikes. Sounds like someone stripped the threads. I'd insert a thin screwdriver between the red cap and the valve cover, and then try to turn the screw while giving the screwdriver a bit of a twist. If the threads are stripped, this may give enough bite to back the screw out. If they are REALLY stripped, this prying will be able to remove PCV without turning the screw. The only problem is...once you get it out, THEN what? Sounds like you might need a new valve cover.Hi everyone,I got a problem try to replace PCV valve on my 2016 Honda accord, and It just turn around and around ,,,I couldn’t get screw out ,,,anyone, please help to solve the problems ,Thanks ,,
You're going to have to do what @Blackheart suggested and if you can get it out, get a new bolt and put a helicoil in that boss of the valve cover.Hi everyone,I got a problem try to replace PCV valve on my 2016 Honda accord, and It just turn around and around ,,,I couldn’t get screw out ,,,anyone, please help to solve the problems ,Thanks ,,
