Huh? Am I reading your thread wrong or something?

My 2008 Accord sedan LX comes with factory power heated mirrors. To activate them, I just press the "rear defroster" button which also heats up the front driver and passenger side mirrors as well.

I live in Canada btw.

I've always wondered... is it actually heat?? i was just pondering and i thought that it might actually be an electrical current that goes through those lines in the window and breaks the bonds in the ice and in turn melts.

It's an electric element:

How Heated Mirrors Keep Themselves Clear
Heated mirrors on vehicles keep themselves free from fog and ice the same way the defroster keeps the windshield clear. A small amount of heat is applied to the glass surface of the side mirrors. Electrical elements in the mirrors heat the surface of the glass. The heat evaporates moisture on the glass' surface and melts any ice that has built up. Electrical wires in the door panels attached to the side view mirrors allow the heating element to draw power from a car's battery.

sorry for the hi-jack op.... I tend to do that =/,but anyways it doesnt have to do with an electric charge but rather an element converting charge into heat right?

It's the same idea as your rear windshield, but it's designed into the back part of the mirror itself. So the mirror is a plate, and the lines are installed directly behind the mirror, before it is attached to the mount. It's a nice feature, but usually if that kind of stuff happens to me, I usually have too much dew on the outside of my window to really think about my mirror.

WHAT THE MOTHER FUNCTION? I need me one of these babes. No more grabbing a bottle, filling it up with water, pouring it onto the glass. Then when you walk away, the water freezes again! MORE WATER PLZ? lol

Now that I re-read this, my side mirrors do defrost when I have my defroster on. All my mirrors defrost when I hit that button..

EDIT: I'm still wrong I guess because on the Honda website it says LX is just standard and EX-L and upper trims have the option. I'm just crazy when I see my side mirrors defrost when I'm driving then. lol

Body-Colored Power Side Mirrors Standard (No power heated mirror) <--LX/LX-P

+1 I never really appreciated this up until recently. lol

+1 I miss my heated mirrors, they should be standard for all cars.
