I'm not understanding why several members have dissed the premium sound system. I listen to high quality mp3 audio (V0 VBR), everything from classical to heavy metal and while the bass may not thump your neighbor's bed against the wall, the sound is crisp and clear and does everything I could ask of a car stereo. MORE BASS IS NOT BETTER SOUND

I'd just like to know what those members who are critical of the premium system are expecting in a good automotive sound system. :dunno:

My sound in the premium is not great compared to the stock system in my last ride. The highs are not nearly as clear and the sub muddles the sound of most hiphop.

I wondered the same thing, for a stock system that had designed to "fit" and sound good I think it does a good job.

dunno bout the premium, but the stock 7th gen is too harsh

Sounds Good to me

I only have the car 72 hours--But I like the stereo

Compared any Honda stereo to the equivalent stereo in other similarly priced cars and the Honda is almost always worse. I'm not trying to put down Honda. There are a huge number of things Honda does really well and stereos are not on the list. But it is not bad enough to not buy the car(if that makes sense). Its just not what I would expect out of 'premium'. But at this price point it is still worse than the stereo in the Camry and about the same as the one in the Altima. I'm sure if they had spent the money that the ANC cost to develop on a better speakers it would be a better overall package.

My old 2001 Ford Focus had a much better stero than the one in my 06 EX-L that has the so called premium stero. It all has to do with the treble quality and how clear it is. The highs and midrange are totally off.

Very true, i would rather have 8 airbags standard than a bose sterio that stull sucks.

I like the sound. It's more than adequate for a factory setup. Besides, thanks to many hard years with my uncle sam on the gun range, these old ears can't take much more thumppin.

I think it sounds fine too, but I'm not an audiophile. I still laugh at the people who will put thousands into their car just to "make it sound better". At least most of the stuff can be switched from car to car.

Well im an audio phile and for what it is, it sounds just "OK" honestly I think the rockford systems in the mitsubishi's sound 10X better... hence why I made the definate change

out of curiousity, what makes sound 10x better? some kinda log or random function? or do you have an audio fidelity meter?:dunno:
It depends like if you have a aftermarket system the JL audio clean sweep make a nice sound it cleans it up and u can use it on a factory radio i think?

Definitely not as hard core as Jamie (not a knock against Jamie, I was once but the older I get the more different places I find to spend my $$$$$$, and if you think a high end car stereo costs $$$$, check out a hot air balloon system!!!) but I do enjoy good sound. I would have to give the audio system a B- or so. Its decent, and it does a lot of things ok, but the range on the speakers is definitely lacking. The low end is kinda muddy (I actually have the sub turned WAY down, and I enjoy techno and Dance) and the high end is lacking. Nothing a decent set of speakers probably couldn't fix. That being said, as others have, I didn't buy my Honda for the radio, I bought it for the relaibility, quality and the driving experience. (The quality issue with rattles etc is a different post guys!)

Bottom line, like SO many things in life, the quality of the sound is in the ears of those who do the listening. If you are happy with it and think its sounds good, that is the only opinion that matters since its your $$$$ in the car!

So what sort of best bang for your buck (sub $500) upgrade would people suggest for the premium sound system? Speakers? Amp? Sub?

It all depends on the type of music you listen to. If you listen to hip hop or pop, the sub bottoms out and rattles like crazy, even if the sub isn't turned up very loud. Most other factory systems I have had do not bottom out or rattle.

I just left the local car audio place and he recommended 2 6X9 fronts for 300 installed would be a huge improvement with highs and mids.

Also, he said the back speakers are not nearly as important for sound reproduction, but help to "fill out" the sound more.

Could be BS, just thought i would share.

i have no idea, but do 6x9's fit the front doors without altering the mounting location? i thought our fronts were 6.5" round speakers.
