I paid $22500 Otd for a 2015 accord ex black on black with nitrogen filled tires and wheel locks is that a good price I see everyone is looking for the exl I could've had one for $25760 Otd but decided on ex the wife hates leather

I should add its a 4cyl with cvt the exl was the same no navi
Wow, congrats, $22,500 is an amazing OTD price for a new Accord EX w/CVT! I think it's the best price we've ever seen here.

The EX-L price you mention is a more typical sales price, and not such a steal as your EX deal.

That makes me feel much better knowing it was a great deal they tried getting me for $500 for nitrogen in the tires and wheel locks that is crazy. They started at $23660 so I didn't think $22500 Otd was that great but we walked out the door and they came out at $$22800 I said $22250 and we met at $22500 it was actually a pretty fun experience for me and my wife it was the car we wanted but we were not in a rush to buy so we stuck to our number and bam got it I guess being the end of the month and the quarter helped or it could've been that we went on Sunday whatever it was we got the deal we wanted

Do you have a worksheet on the price the dealer quoted you on the ex-l? Thanks in advance

I don't think I do but I have emails with the quote from the dealership. I live in south Carolina though if you look up easley Honda in South Carolina they are advertising the ex-l for $26022 I just used that number and looked up the invoice price on Costco cars

Oh, I didn't realize that you were in South Carolina, with the low $300 sales tax. So, I guess your car price was about $22,160 before TTL, which is not as great as I thought (but not bad!).

otd includes TT&L. unless a trade was involved or you didn't pay sales tax, that price is crazy low.

Tell Me The Best Prices on a Honda Accord and Odyssey

Hey guys,

First time car buyer here, had a horrible experience with some dealership psychology and sales tactics.

Quick version:

2015 EX CVT - 36 month lease with 12k miles per year - $3800 down including all TTL, additions and first month's payment - $211.89/month for 35 months with Sentinel care package (before the care package was added the terms were $3800 down, $210/month). RV was 57%.

How did I do? What could I have done better? Any advice is appreciated.
You asked:

1. Horrible deal by at least $1500. Did you comparison shop at all?
2. Horrible treatment (your words) - you should have walked out the minute they treated you poorly in the F&I office
3. There is very little mx in the first 3 years; what does the sentinel package cover? i doubt it is worth much
4. Next time, prepare yourself for the typical sales tactics and just say no. It is just a car!
5. i realize texas taxes leases on the full purchase price (which blows)
6. Oh, never put down big money on a lease. If you have an accident tomorrow and the leased car is totaled, that $3800 is gone.

Lastly, it bugs me when guys post a deal AFTER they make a huge mistake and then ask "how did i do?"

Tax is 5% here on a new car so it was $1125 I wish it was $300

The vehicle sales tax rate in South Carolina is 5%, but is capped at $300. So, if you paid the full 5%, something is wrong.

You may also have paid your first year of property tax at the time of purchase. That rate varies by county, but should not be anywhere near 5%.

Can you check on the itemized breakdown of your $22,500 OTD price? It's not adding up right. What was the purchase price of the car on the final sales invoice, before any taxes and title/registration fees?

I will check the breakdown when I get home I just know when I signed the final OTD price was $22500 I never looked at the breakdown just assumed it was the full 5% first new car I bought in sc I just moved here 2 years ago

You were right before everything it was $21633 before ttl. I didn't realize tax was only $300 or I would have tried to haggle more. I am very happy with the price I paid out the door though .

Has anyone recently purchased an ex-l in the md/va/da area recently. If so could you please provide a breakdown of your pricing and the dealership you purchased from? Thanks in advance.

Also does anyone know if honda ever offers 0% financing at any point in the year? I only ever recall seein .9%.

RV was 57%.

Long version:

I live in the DFW metroplex, and the best deal I could find for an Accord was the LX for $137/month and $0 down excluding TTL and fees for additions.

I wanted the 2015 EX CVT model for the moonroof and upgraded speakers, and after looking at the differences in MSRP, found that there was around a $2000 difference between the LX and EX models. This equated to about a $60 increase in monthly lease payments over the LX.

So the deal I came to the table with was- $0 down, $0 TTL and $200/month for the 2015 EX CVT Sedan without navigation (not sure if you can even get an EX with navigation). The lease terms were 36 months with 12k miles per year.

They came back with a bunch of numbers trying to show me how with an increase in TTL and additions, the price would actually be around $365/month with $0 down, obviously far too high.

Residual value was 57%, and the MSRP of the car with destination fees was $26,650 ($25,830 MSRP and $820 destination fees). Additions to the car totaled around $1900 (stuff I couldn't negotiate like pre-tinting windows, adding a stripe to the side, bumper guards), TTL was $1665.625 and other fees were around $700 total.

At this point they said that was the final offer and that they couldn't budge, so I was ready to walk out. Then the sales guy told us to offer what we thought would be a reasonable price.

Here is where I think I made my first mistake.

I said $3800 down, including first payment with $200/month for the next 35 months inclusive of TTL and all other fees. This seemed reasonable because I calculated the residual value after 3 years of the car to be $15190.50, which meant the car depreciated $11.459.50 over the 3 years.

They came back with $3800 down and $237/month, and I told them I wouldn't budge from my number.

They came back with $3800 down and $210/month inclusive of all TTL and other costs, and I did some calculations which basically looked like this: $3800 + $210*35 = $11,150.

This is where I think I made my second mistake.

I assumed that because I was lower than the depreciation cost of the car that I was getting a good deal. To the more seasoned car buyers, was I wrong?

The rest of the deal was annoying because I had to sit with a racist and hotheaded finance manager who pushed the sentinel care package on at $238/month, and I adamantly refused any increase in cost until he brought it down to $211.89/month.

So the final deal was 36 month lease with 12k miles per year, $3800 down including all TTL, additions and first month's payment, $211.89/month for 35 months with Sentinel care package.

How did I do? What could I have done better? Any advice is appreciated.
There's a great lease calculator on Weymouth Honda which gives all the lease details and allows you to select terms (months, miles, down payment, etc).

Plus, they appear to have aggressive pricing, so the lease prices they have are probably about as good as you can get. I highly recommend for anyone leasing, it's a great resource.

For an Accord EX CVT Sedan they are leasing at $238 (incl 6.25% tax) with $626.94 due at signing for 36 mo/12K.

So to answer your question, $3800 down and a $210 monthly payment, IMO sounds like a terrible deal, you probably over paid at least $2k (almost $3K).

Just got a quote from a local dealer

2015 Accord Sedan EX-L V6
$29,000 OTD

2015 Accord Touring
$32,070 OTD

Pretty good prices or do you guys think there is room to negotiate it down?
Need more detail than the OTD price. Sales tax is different in most areas. What is the dealer processing fee? How much are tags and registration? You can't really compare any OTD the price without seeing all the details because it is too variable from area to area.

Something like this (my 2014 Touring purchased August 2014 in Maryland):

2014 Accord Touring - Crystal Black Pearl

$29,599 including wheel locks
$1,775.94 PA 6% Sales Tax
$299 Dealer Processing gimmick
$202 State DMV fees

Total OTD: $31,875.94

Looking at getting my wife an accord coupe ex-l non navigation. Black auto with the two tone ivory/black leather

Sticker $29315
Got it to $27,260 otd

(24,706 car, 1605 tax, 250 tag, 699 dealer fee)

How much wiggle room do I have?

Sorry, here's more detailed information.

$1,615.75 PA 6% Sales Tax
$330 Dealer fee

Total OTD: $29,000

I just bought an Accord EX-L w/o Nav, 4 cyl in Salem, Oregon:

Year: 2015
Sedan or Coupe: Sedan
Trim (i.e. LX, Sport, EX, EX-L,.... etc.): EX-L
Auto 4 cyl
Price before Tax Title License (TTL): $25,677
Price Out The Door (OTD): $26,024 (no sales tax in Oregon)
No add ons

TrueCar Price: $27,107
Edmunds Price: $26,507
Costco Price: $25,677

Picked up a 2015 EX-L V6 non nav today. Black on black. The big score for me was the trade in value I got for my old car. It was an 09 maxima with 95k miles and complete hail damage. 3 other Honda dealers only offered $6000 for it. I was able to negotiate up to $8750 for my car trade in. I was more than happy with that.

Got the accord for 26026 so with trade and TTL it was $18,698 out the door. I didnt think that was bad for the EX-L V6. I think they are going to take a big hit on the resale of my Maxima so even if I paid a little more for the Accord, I think I got an overall good deal

Congrats on your new car purchase.

Now let's use this thread to keep track of prices people paid. If possible, please list both price before TTL and price OTD. Why? Not everyone pays sales tax or the same sales tax percentage. Thanks.

Please list:

  • Year
  • Sedan or Coupe
  • Trim (i.e. LX, Sport, EX, EX-L,.... etc.)
  • Auto or Manual
  • Price before Tax Title License (TTL) and Price Out The Door (OTD)
  • Miscellaneous add-ons/extras (e.g. extended warranty, spoiler, body kit, pin stripe, Honda Factory Performance (HFP) wheels,.... etc.)
Honda Accord Sedan LX 2015 for about 3,000-4,000 off MSRP
