Just got my vehicle tinted with Llumar CTX and its been about a week. At night there is double vision of cars, blurry headlights, and/or extreme light reflection off the rear defrosters.

Does it need to cure more, tint badly done, or is this a normal occurrence with rear tinting? :paranoid:

That's the nature of the beast.

You see, the tint film is applied over the traces of the defroster, thus its surface is wavy, not smooth. In addition, there are layers of air, however thin and narrow, between the film and the glass on either side of each trace. Light bends differently when traveling through different media.

As a result, the visions are blurry.

The degree of blurriness depends on the thickness of the film. The thicker the film, the more pronounced the blurriness.

It's not a result of a bad job, nor will it completely go away. But after a while, it gets better, you'll get used to it and stop being annoyed by it. I did.

Below is the photo I took with my cellphone tonight on the way home (the window is tinted 20%):

Yup that's exactly what I see! How disappointing that it doesn't get better. Almost feel like it's hazardous driving at night.
There's one kind of law you can't violate nor be exempt from: the law of physics.

Does your car have auto-dimming rearview mirror? I think it helps soften the effect.

You get used to it after a while. Knowing that everyone is in the same boat helps.

The effect is even worse on the coupe due to the more sloped rear window. My installer told me Hondas generally have much thicker defroster traces than some other cars, making the effect more noticeable. I also used ceramic film which is thicker than standard, but even with that, I've gotten used to it.

That probably explains why its is so quick to defrost the rear window lol.

My 2013 has the weakest rear defroster of any car Ive owned. There are days where it did not get all the frost melted.

Was it like that when it was new? My rear window was frozen and I used the remote start to start this morning and it was completely clear in five minutes. Before the remote start, I would start the rear defroster and would instantly see lines appear in the rear window. This is a two week old 2016 Sport.
