Word of mouth is great and everything, I believe people on this board would appreciate reading research provided on these products. I run "normal" conventional oil in my 2006 and according to the oil life indicator will only need to change my miles every 7,500 miles (approximately).

Winning trophies is great but it is much more than just the oil that helps win those.

im not saying i race my accord.. i know its wasnt made for that but it just perform well on my car...

I'm not trying to bash you either or anything. Hope you didn't take my comment the wrong way. It's just that some of us are anal when it comes to our cars and would like to see actual data or some kind of proof why the oil is so great.

I pop in now and again over at BITOG and from the oil analysis that people have done, it seems like Royal Purple isn't any better than, say, Pennzoil Platinum, Mobil 1, or Amsoil.

Actually, people have said that Royal Purple

1. is overpriced
2. sheers
3. gives bad wear numbers
4. is so bad that they won't even use the free RP that they've gotten

Maybe you've had good results with it, but I was just curious to see what data you had that explains why it's "way better than any motor oil i have ever used."

Then again, RP does get bashed quite a bit there, so :dunno:

I know a guy who runs helium in his tires, and he wins every race he ever enters. It must be the helium...

I have used Royal Purple in all my cars J30t, G-20, and all accords. All ran better, cooler, better mpg, NO black carbon in tailpipes. Last Honda was my 4 cylinder 5 spd MT. 120,000k when sold. Car ran like new. I found it to be as good if not better than Mobil One. As far as price, my shop charges same for Royal Purple as the Mobile One. I change filter at 3k and everything every 6k. I use the Pure One Filters.

IMHO I don't see the point of using synthetic oil if you are going to change it after 3k miles like some people have mentioned. You should be able to go at least 5k miles before changing it. One place not to skimp on is a quality oil filter. No point in using Royal Purple, Mobil 1, etc. and then using a $0.99 generic oil filter. I've had excellent results with Pure One and Mobil One filters.

Compared to what? Better than? Cooler than? Did you have a problem with black carbon (is there any other color of carbon you would expect in a tailpipe?) in the past? If so, specifics please.

Changing every 6k miles? You could run any oil in the engine for 120k miles. 120k miles is nothing short of unimpressive.

If your "into racing" you shouldnt be racing a car with a torque deprived k24, while we are on the subject the words racing and accord should not be in the same sentence...its rediculous...even if you have oil thats "the bomb" and a RACING J SERIES!!!!!

There are only a few models of Hondas that were made to be "sporty", and most of them were made in japan or euro models, not usdm.

I love seeing guys at the track with a honda and bolt ons and "racing oil" churning out 14s....WOW. :D

And to those of you that use synthetic and change it every 3k..i have a plan to save you time. At 3k, take to $20 bills and rip them in half. Now, dont change the oil yet, wait till 5k - 6k or whatever you want.....see how much time you saved!!!!?! Your hands are still clean too!!!!

"The bomb, my car likes it, runs smoother".........all a load of subjective crap!! Show me several used oil analysis' with extremely low wear metals etc. and you have my attention. As mentioned ANY oil will run to 5K and keep an engine running well long after you are sick of the car.

I have an even better idea, send me the $20, I will even send a self-stamped/addressed envelope with no-lick seal for your trouble!

:)

(BTW, isn't destroying legal tender an offence?, so you can totally avoid this risk by doing the above for me)

haha can i have the other $20?

Some RP UOAs

2008 Ranger, 6200 miles

2004 Sentra, 5200 miles

2005 Sentra, 3000 miles

WRX 7500 miles

2006 Mazda 6, 7300 miles

Nissan Altima, 5000 miles

2007 Honda Pilot 3.5, 5000 miles. UOA and VOA of RP

2004 GTO, 525 miles. Compared to Penz. Platinum. at 826 miles

2007 Honda Pilot, 6000 miles

RX8, 2113 miles (vs other oils)

GM 5.3L 6487 miles

S2000, 2700 miles

Some comments indicate that other oils are better. Some UOAs show that RP is OK. I think RP is way overhyped and overpriced for what it does, but it is not a BAD oil... (is there a such thing nowdays?)

If somebody wants to analyze it - please post results. I just glanced through the posts without going into details.
