So, I went to the dealership tonight & looked at a 2009 Tafetta White w/ Navi v6-6spd & loved it..they are giving me a pretty good price on that particular one.. $27,750. However, they are lowballing the crap out of me on trade in.. $13,500 for my 08 lx-s w/ only 11k miles on it. So.....

I think I'm going to try to put my car up on craigslist & see if I can get what I owe Or HOPEFULLY more. I owe $16,400 on it now & have a payment due here pretty soon. Do you think I should be able to get at least $16,500 or so for it?

If the dealer would give me KBB value on my car ($16275 for "good" condition) instead of the BS "black book" they use, then I'd probably just trade in for the white one (prob not my first choice on color due to the tan interior). If they do....they have 4 white navi 6 spds in the state & 1 belize blue non navi 6spd.

Most likely option is I'll have to sell car privately & buy a '10 6-6 .. non-nav though, b/c i dont really need that..

color choices, which should i get (keep in mind, my car sits outside 100% of the time....my condo has street parking only)

Black = MY Favorite color easily....but might be a pain to keep clean. i used to detail cars throughout college, so i keep my cars looking fairly nice.

PMM= LOVE it, but i already have it...not sure i wana get the same thing.

Tafetta White = love the exterior color, not a huge fan of the tan interior...but it's not terrible either. white is also a tough one to keep clean.

Silver = nice, conservative, a bit boring, but easy to take care of.

Belize Blue = had an Electron Blue prelude & got tired of it....afraid this may be the same.

Red = No no no... only color I don't like personally (no offense to SMR owners)

So, what color to get?

I also have a '10 TSX as a possibilty too, but i thought about it & after riding in the 6-6.. i thought I'm only 26 years old, single & even if I keep it to the point that I have a family, i figure this is my last chance to get a car w/ some balls. i have the rest of my life to drive sedans & suv's.

Ouch, dealership is lowballing you pretty hard there.

I'd either get white or silver if I were you. Black is such a love/hate relationship.

EDIT: The new Acura line barely beats a garbage can in terms of looks, but that's just my .02.

I just have a problem driving stick with the huge numbers of stop signs and traffic lights and traffic on the highway.
Sell the car privately. Don't just give up your car for $13K. I think thats too low.
The dealer offered me $21K yesterday for my Accord, but its a sedan fully loaded with 4,700 miles on it and I walked away.
But to be honest with you, I would never trade in a car and get the same model. Thats just me though.

I agree with the above. Trading your car in a year later is gonna kill you with depreciation. Trading it in for the same car with a new engine/tranny is awfully silly IMHO. If you're going for sports car, which it seems to be the only reason to do the trade, go with a more serious sports car.

Just my .02

And to original question: red white or black.

14k for trade in? no way, i'd rather pay msrp and have them pay kbb trade in value.

Yeah, I know it seems silly... i just love the accord coupe, but I want some more power. as far as a more serious sports car..... i like the reliability & FWD of the coupe being that I live in an area that gets some decent snow falls.

& yeah $13.5k is a horrible offer on trade.

& i love the Black, by far my favorite...but the fact I don't have a garage is putting me on the fence w/ the other colors. I also have a Black jeep that sits outside too & it looks pretty good actually. i put a detail spray on each time i wash & it keeps it fairly shiny/nice looking.

Dont listen to people about not trading the car in for a higher trim and level, if you want it, do it. That is what i am in the middle of doing. They are low balling you. Dont settle for anything that is right, go to different dealers, they can always get you the car you want, just gotta find the right dealer for a trade in

I think white looks the best.

I have a white on tan leather 6-6. The tan leather isn't bad at all. It looks classy. 1 issue that I ran into is that I have 1 black leather belt which left a nice line across the leather. I'm sure that can be cleaned. If not, one day in 3 years or w/e, i'll just buy a new leather piece for the upper section of the seat, its not as expensive as one may thing. I'm sure with osme good cleaning, i'll be able to get rid of it. Also, IMO, when a white car is clean, it burns your eyes to look at it directly, especially in the sun. Black v6 6speed coupes are the most common, i think. Silver is bland. Red is sweet, but i think down the line it will turn pink and blue sometimes looks purple ... like when its in the shade. This is all my opinion, but you get what you want. Also, get the navi because you pay a little more now, but you won't need to get anything later and Honda navi is actually pretty good. not only that, but you get bluetooth, voice control and a bunch of other features.

When the money is concerned. I think you should do your math and come to the dealership and just give them the monthly payment amount you want to be left with.

So something like this:

New car : 27,500
Trade: 16,000
Balance: 11,500
Tax + Title + fees
Balance on trade: 10,000
Total : 11,500 + TTL + 10,000 / Term (36, 48, 60)

If they can do it, great, if not, F them.

If i were to go the second time i would want a different color, but i love the PMM so it would be a 50/50 for me. I would probably go with white, i think Honda has a nice white color. But to me white only looks good with an Aero kit, the black accents around the fog lights really bring out the lines of a white coupe.

KBB trade in value is $16,175 for good cond. and $17,125 for excellent cond. You can go to CarMax and get a value for it. Usually they deduct $1000 below trade in value but it gives you a baseline. It will give you more confidence if you decide to sell private party.

yeah, but the downfall w/ that is i get no tax advantage like i would at the dealership....

ie:
if the dealership gives me $15k for it
& carmax gives me $16k .. it's pretty much the exact same thing b/c of the tax benefit.

I think I could do it if the dealership gives me $15k for my car .....but $13.5k, no way!
