Did anyone else notice the reduced headroom in the rear seats on the 11th gen?

I hadn't noticed it in the Accord Hybrid Sport I test drove but when I sat in the back of an EX-L, my head touched the roof. I am about 6 ft 2 and I was surprised to find the loss of headroom in the 11th gen vs the prior generation. My youngest son is taller than me and now I am hesitant to take delivery. What has changed appears to be the sloping roofline starts sooner in the rear of the vehicle reducing the height of the roof for back seat passengers despite the car being longer than prior generation model.

Anyone else notice this? What is the difference and reason? Is this different in gas vs hybrid or other trim levels?

I found this in Hondas Website

11th Gen 2023
Headroom (front/rear)39.5 in / 37.3 in
Legroom (front/rear)42.3 in / 40.8 in
Shoulder Room (front/rear)57.9 in / 56.5 in
Hiproom (front/rear)55.4 in / 55.4 in
Cargo Volume16.7 cu ft
Passenger Volume105.7 cu ft

I also have a 2019 Hybrid Touring
Interior MeasurementsTouring
Headroom (front/rear) (1.5T)37.5 in / 37.2 in
Headroom (front/rear) (2.0T)37.5 in / 37.2 in
Headroom (front/rear) (Hybrid)37.5 in / 37.2 in
Legroom (front/rear)42.3 in / 40.4 in
Shoulder Room (front/rear)58.3 in / 56.5 in
Hiproom (front/rear)55.3 in / 55.0 in
Cargo Volume16.7 cu ft
Passenger Volume102.7 cu ft

But I can tell you, my head doesn't touch the roof on my 2019. While I am not disagreeing with Hondas measurements, the maximum rear roof height in the 11h gen, it's just not over the passenger seats where they'd sit comfortably.

Are you comparing a vehicle with sunroof vs no sunroof? Naturally a sunroof will decrease the headroom in the rear.

Have you noticed if the seats have a different vertical angle between the two cars?

It's possible to have the same volume in a rectangle and a square but the contents inside each will have different positions so you could be right that the height measurement Honda uses is not in the ideal place for a rear passenger.

Yes. My 2019 Touring is a hybrid with a sunroof. The 2023 Accord EX-L I sat in yesterday also had a sunroof. It seems the roof his higher in the center of the car and starts to slope down from there.

I didn't notice it in the Accord Sport Hybrid demo I sat in a few weeks ago. I believe it also has a sunroof.

Easy fix. Just restrict your back seat passengers to those with sloping heads.
