2004 Accord V6

I did oil change yesterday, switched to mobile1 synthetic. After driving on Hwy for 20 min, I stopped and sense some burning wire smell. I opened the hood and see smoke from the back of engine. Now it smells like burning oil. The oil level is fine. Also there is no warning light. I drove another 10 miles to go back home. The car sounds very good. So I'm wondering what problem it is. Has anyone experienced this before? Thanks

A few drops could have fallen onto the engine and were burning off once the engine got hot. If this is the first time it happens and doesnt happen again then I am sure you will be fine. If you continue to have this problem then something is wrong.

Just update. I check the back of engine today and seems the smoke is coming from rear engine mount. The smoke is like white and the odor is not that strong. Also there is some yellowish oil/fluid on the engine mount. This is not oil leak underneath the car. Above the engine mount is powersteering oil line which seems has a little oil leaked.

Check for oil around valve cover.

Did you change your own oil or did someone else? Maybe they spilled some oil when they checked all levels including PS? check all your fluids.

The shop just checked and it's power steering high pressure PS line leaking. The PS fluid is dribbling down to exhaust.

The shop quoted $540 to replace the PS line. I just feel weird because it was not leaking until I did engine oil change at their store.

So is there any other way to stop the leaking? The leaking seems to be really small.

The line is high pressure so there really anything you can do to permanently stop the leak. When I had a leak I had to refill with a bottle of PS fluid every 2 days.

Is the $540 from a dealership? That seems high. The hose itself is under $150 and I think the service quote was 2 hours for the job.

Looks like that PS hose dealer's list price is $130 or about $100 from Majestic Honda. Dont know how hard it is to replace, but your quote must have lots of labor included. If you were lucky the leak might just be a loose fitting, but not too likely unless the oil change guy was messing with you.
